Your last sentence throws me. From what I am seeing, Moylan has stepped into the breach & taken responsibility in the final 5 minutes of the last 2 games - delivered a clutch FG (Canberra) & orchestrated a cracking TA in the 79th minute (Hit Tieg as the front runner, rather then selecting Nicho who was sweeping around the back, but was running out of room). Balls of steel & the execution to match by Moylan. I can only assume Fitz knew Moylan has this ability / willingness in his DNA - & Shaun Johnson did not - early doors, but looks like a good choice by Fitzy.
Let me get this straight…

You would prefer a half that can’t kick, do fk all during 75+ mins of a game except tackle and pass here and there Aslong as he steps up in the last 5 mins you’re happy ?

Imagine if he applied himself that way the whole game ? No one would be complaining. Also, he knows his performances have been sht therefore if we lose he very well could lose his spot

Sorry for butting in Dad, but if Moylan scored three tries, set up three others, ran for 150 metres and made 40 tackles you still wouldn’t be happy.

Now before you go off at your beloved son, I’m not a Moylan fan either but he did have a better than normal Matt Moylan game yesterday. The experts said he did and so did Fitz in his press conference.

I know you are passionate about Trindall (everyone knows actually about ten times over) but unfortunately he’s not getting picked while Moylan is doing what he’s doing at the moment.

So just kick back Dad, give your heart a rest and enjoy the win!

Who was the big prick they ran at Moyza all night? Forget his name but Moyza took care of him one on one fairly consistently. He bounced away a few times toward the end but I thought the Moyz handled him admirably
#nevertrampled
Defensively BIG effort , now has speed/acceleration he had as a young player having watched him turn and chase down a break away player in trial game .
Best is yet to come in 2022
Apart from kicking game , not sure what else he has to do to impress ?

Eninis AND Cronk singing his praises below

SHARKS HALVES SHINE AS HYNES SEALS EPIC WIN

Nicho Hynes deserved the hero moment after nailing the match winning conversion after the siren, but it was his halves partner Matt Moylan that set up the match levelling try.

Michael Ennis and Cooper Cronk lauded the impact of the pair on the Sharks’ attack throughout the contest.

“It was Matt Moylan who stood up in the big moments with a beautifully timed pass for Teig Wilton to charge over,” Ennis said.

“Then Nicho at 16-all and he had kicked pretty average all day and he absolutely drilled it and the fans have gone berserk there.”

“I think Matt Moylan has been under a fair bit of scrutiny in recent times, but I think he needs a pat on the back,” Cronk said.

“I thought he was outstanding. The times he chose to inject himself he looked dangerous.

“And to come up with that play. He realised that they were outnumbered. Went with the short pass with Nicho Hynes swinging around the back. It was all deception.

“Then for the big off-season recruit there is no better way to make your mark at a new club than kicking your match winning conversion when the siren has gone.

“Congratulations to the two halves.”

Hynes was lost for words in summing up his match winning kick, but had more to say about his five-eighth Moylan.

There are good signs for the Sharks spine with Moylan getting back to his best as well, according to Ennis.

“Matt Moylan was really dangerous,” Ennis said.

“He took on the line and every time he touched the ball he made things happen.”

The Sharks are building something in 2022 and there is plenty to like about Craig Fitzgibbon’s side.

In regards to clutch plays, yes they’re amazing. However, I’d rather not need them.

Not saying pick one half over the other, but let’s strive not to need a clutch play.

Had we played better during the match we may have scored more trys.

Had we converted the trys we don’t need a clutch play.

Where do people think Raiders and Eels will finish this year? Bottom of the 8, maybe? Just winning and losing vs these teams.

Storm top 8
Raiders bottom 8
Our attack blunted because of stupid errors and the amount of defence we had to do .
Cut out the stupid stuff and the attack/tries will come.

I do like the way Moylan straightened the attack - so many times in recent years we have looked crowded out wide.

Our fullback and centres had decent room in which to work ..
Our backs get very deep, I noticed.

And ? That’s a sht tactic only having one half kick. Silly for them to do that especially when both halves can kick well. They would be spewing

if you can’t see that our last play options need work then I don’t know what to tell u

“Nothing for 75+ minutes of the game”

Matt Moylan;
- 15 runs
- 111 run metres
- 5 tackle breaks
- 1 line break
- 2 line break assists
- 1 try assist
- 2 offloads

That’s a heck of a 5 minute performance.

Trindall would have done 10, maybe 20 times that

This is his biggest value. Going deep into the line and creating space for those around him. He defended well yesterday too.

Completion was a big factor here I think. Need to clean it up

Nice moments but Moyza has peaked and is in decline. Trindall is yet to peak and is on the up up.

The pass from Moylan to Hynes for the Tracey try was sublime - deceptive and well weighted. Teig runs through and draws Moses tackle but the ball didn't go to Tieg in went out the back to Hynes who himself throws a nice hastey specky over the top for Tracey to go over.

Then to rub salt in the wounds of Parra on the final play of the game this time Moylan fiens to Hynes and instead goes short to Tieg who this time does receive the pass with another sneaky short pass from Moylan and Tieg barges over

This was great work from all involved on that left edge but Moylan had to nail the execution on those 2 passes for it to work and he did. Trindall has some advantages/benefits over Moylan but I doubt he gets the result on both of those plays, maybe neither.

Few years back when Mozza was full mong barely catching a ball ect. he used to force these no look passes all the time and alot of the time the ball was not hitting it's mark. I when I say no look I mean deadset looking the opposite way to where he was passing...

I think now he is being more aware of the players around him and using his eyes combined with his sleight of hand better and more consistently. Treating it less like a miracle play.

He used to just do it ad-hoc whether players around him were expecting the pass or not but now perhaps he has started to relise in recent seasons you can pull off nice flashy plays while still playing the percentages.

Coaching staff deserve some credit for facilitating this as well

Listening to Fitzy, Moylan is in the team till he gets hurt.
