Glad we’re having this discussion in the Matt Moylan thread
It’s relevant cos there is talk abt the lack of kicking from Moylan and at this stage he is likely to remain in the side. This is an alternative option to his position in the side to cover his lack of kicking

Who was the big prick they ran at Moyza all night? Forget his name but Moyza took care of him one on one fairly consistently. He bounced away a few times toward the end but I thought the Moyz handled him admirably

Parramatta had one kicker all night. It’s not even a problem, you’re making it to be one.

I think the best thing for him is to just stick by him. He’s worked hard on the off season and we know he is a talented player. He’s a bit of a project player atm because I reckon there is a massive ceiling. He just needs to get some games under his belt and be confident in the role he is playing.
Does anybody really know who the coach believes the best halves combination is until Trindals suspension is over?
I reckon Hynes is so much more dangerous as a runner and second receiver and Trindall is good as a first receiver while also both bringing a running threat and kicking game. Overall that’s a better partnership for me.

Moylan just doesn’t do enough and with Moylan it leaves Hynes at first receiver

Of course it’s a problem.. Dylan brown can kick and kick well where as Moylan can’t so it’s not even a luxury we can afford. Brown is also a far more dangerous ball runner then Moylan, Brown was getting through our line a couple times tonight

How much kicking did Dylan Brown do tonight?

Matt’s execution is actually on a lot of the time, far more so than it isn’t. Make no mistake, our sweeping motions live and breath through Moylan.
I don’t agree with you on execution. He deadset doesn’t know what he’s going to do half the time, that last play after Uele massacred the whole Parra team and we were on a roll was another prime example of it

As was Moylan in regards to getting through the line. Dylan Brown also had 0 kicks for 0 metres tonight.

You are making Moylan not being able to kick / not kicking a reason why he’s detrimental to the team, when his opposite didn’t kick at all. Doesn’t matter if Brown ‘can kick’, cause he didn’t, and rarely does.

And ? That’s a sht tactic only having one half kick. Silly for them to do that especially when both halves can kick well. They would be spewing

if you can’t see that our last play options need work then I don’t know what to tell u

The one kicker is ok argument is ridiculous.

What happens to Cronulla in a Hynes/Moylan combo when Hynes goes down?
Do they just piss the game away?

Parra’s Brown can kick and when Moses has gone down in the past, Brown has stepped up.

With Moylan in my opinion, it’s a capability issue.
He is simply not capable/willing to wear responsibility for the teams result and I’m honestly flabbergasted that he was retained.

Your last sentence throws me. From what I am seeing, Moylan has stepped into the breach & taken responsibility in the final 5 minutes of the last 2 games - delivered a clutch FG (Canberra) & orchestrated a cracking TA in the 79th minute (Hit Tieg as the front runner, rather then selecting Nicho who was sweeping around the back, but was running out of room). Balls of steel & the execution to match by Moylan. I can only assume Fitz knew Moylan has this ability / willingness in his DNA - & Shaun Johnson did not - early doors, but looks like a good choice by Fitzy.

We need him taking one or two kicks just to get you guys off his back. Field goal last week, threw the match-winning pass this week. He's taking pressure off Hynes in a whole other way.

Moylan passed to Hynes plenty of times
100% , that's how they play one inside one and the other depending on which side of ruck they are attacking.
It's more efficient than repositioning every sweep , half inside of designated 5/8.
I'm VERY optimistic the best is yet to come .

Imagine the blow up if it was Moylan not Hynes that Lane wrong footed and ran straight pass… I’m happy to not give up on Trindal but let him have a solid stint with the jets and get him playing the kind of footy that forces his way into the top side.
many thought flanno jnr was the second coming of the messiah (got that wrong)

Yeah mate. His kicking game is almost non-existent. Coached still picked him though - and based what he actually did (not what he didn’t do, or what he did in 2017) he was a solid contributor.
Agree with above. His other drawback is that he doesn't have the personality of a Ronnie or a Nicho that helps to get some flaws or errors overlooked .

Moylan made the break that led to the Katoa try . Coach gave him the credit for setting up final try when the game was on the line . Went close to setting up a winning try last week and he made plenty of tough tackles again this week.

Will be in the team this year whenever he is fit .
