In my opinion this is outrageous.

The Daily Telegraph reports Gorman has been spotted both at Manly headquarters in the past days meeting staff and having a hour long meeting in a public cafe with Trent Barrett and their football manager. In my opinion this is unacceptable. Gorman is the leader of our club, yet publicly has been not just linked to Manly for weeks has been now seen at their headquarters and in public with their staff. There is nothing stopping him leaving, why he would is beyond me, but for the Sharks to remain completely silent while their leader is spotted with an opposing club is outrageous. Gorman is not a player, spotted talking to other clubs, he is the leader of the Cronulla, he is the manager of the business, the manager of a multi million dollar development.

Most organisations have non compete causes for managers at his level when they leave, but beyond that he is there talking to them in public while he is still employed by us.

Why Cronulla would let such a good operator go is beyond me when the job to turn the club around is not complete, but now allowing this to continue publicly shows a terrible lack of leadership and sadly could be a pointer to the future direction of the club without Gorman.

Agree with all that.

It is a worry. We will have even more carpetbaggers at the next board election. It is a worrying time.

For all we know the club might know what's going on. Lyall might be being completely upfront with them.

I don't think we really need to hear from the club. What are they going to say? "Our CEO wants a change and is currently shopping around"

It'll all just unfold behind the scenes. We can judge it afterwards.

where did this "we let him go" come from?

he had a 3 year contract, it ended this season

he is free to do what ever the **** he wants

Exactly. And lyall owes this club nothing. He was paid well to do a job. We won a premiership within 2 seasons of him being here. He can go with the respect of all fans members and stake holders as far as im concerned. Footy is business, time every body stopped getting attached to everybody at the club

It might be me mostly, but I've been treating CEO's, club board members, and club minions etc across the NRL as players for many years. When it come to loyalty or commitment, I'm pleased or impressed if they show some.

Lyall deserves the benefit of the doubt with regards testing the waters at other clubs. It isn't that unreasonable.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this at all.

Firstly, Lyall is not under any contract beyond this week, he is well within in rights to have begun searching for new employment. Maybe he had told the club months ago he would move on? Maybe its all a marketting ploy to get the Sharks to offer up to retain his services? To go and have a meeting with a potential new employer and people you might be working with is perfectly normal. Who cares if he was seen in public.

secondly, the Sharks do not need to do any press release regarding Gorman, unless its a thank you for your services statement when he does leave.

Non compete clauses....will never happen in this game

Who says we are letting him go? Lyall is a grown man and will make his own decision, maybe its not even about money.
