Lewy was on tripple M today talking about how he has suffered with inflammation from arthritis for about the last 4 years, struggles to sleep, whole body aches including shoulder ect. Needs anti-inflam injections every couple days to keep going and is looking forward to quitting those once the season finishes up. Couldn't put himself through another season of that but is looking forward to a new fitness regime once he is retired. Not a big drinker, loves poker, wants to play more and get to the World series in Vegas. What a legend.

Said putting himself through the last few weeks of a season he could manage but another full season too hard. Had a weird experience in lead up to panthers game during week and on game day thinking could be the last time he see's/does certain things as a player. was nervous in second half panthers comeback and was thinking could this be the end. Didn't ice his injury as he was hoping to get back on the field in the last 5 or 10 mins. Is excited and looking forward to the future in retirement but doesn't want it to end yet.

Already respected the guy but wow, inspirational bloke - unlike another bloke that played for us with joint inflammation...

Legend, you single handily started this clubs most successful era, along with the great names of sharks history you will be held in similar esteem. Forever a battler, a gentleman, a professional. I’ll be waxing on about you to my grandkids I swear it, enjoy your retirement mate, beyond all else.

You’ve earned it.

One of the best to ever run out for us. Probably played a season or 2 past his expiry but deserved to go out in his time.

One of the most important signings this club has made. You wouldn't find a single person with a bad word to say about him.

His contributions to changing the culture of the club cannot be underestimated. Loved by all one of the true legends. Sad to see him go, has been a beast.

Absolute bloody legend for us.

I honestly rate him as one of, if not the most important signings in the clubs history.

We were a struggling club on the verge of folding and he CHOSE to come to us. An state and international rep player chose to come to us. Completely changed the culture of the club and steered us to our first premiership.

Thank you lewy, Cronulla legend.

Very fitting he got across the line tonight. Well done Lewy.
with his leg basically falling off not withstanding - says it all about his guts and determination

loved him challenging the refs to keep it honest early on as well

Went out on his sword tonight. Pretty fitting for him really. Fought tooth and nail to the end carrying an injury and busted his absolute guts to get us back in the game, and got our only try. Finished the game busted and broken, he wouldn’t of had it any other way. Not a lot of guys can honestly claim to be a club legend at two different clubs. This man can certainly make that claim.

Thanks Lewy.

He was the catalyst in turning us into a premiership winning team.

Absolute salt of the earth, wish him all the best in retirement.

As long as there is Sharks fans across this brown land, he should never have to buy a beer ever.

FORMER Cronulla Sharks player Luke Lewis is getting value for money on an end-of-career trip to the United States.
Lewis, who called an end to a 324-game career this season, was at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the Conor McGregor-Khabib Nurmagomedov fight.

And he found himself perilously close to the wild aftermath when Nurmagomedov launched himself into the crowd to fight one of McGregor’s teammates.

Lewis described the experience as “absolute mayhem”.

.....

“Let me guess a couple of boys from Penrith going ‘this isn’t anything unusual’,” joked The Grill Team host Matthew Johns. “Just like a Saturday night at The Pioneer!”

“You know what the boys are like they all wanted to go out there and ... I can’t get into too much detail because I’ll get in trouble,” Lewis responded. “But the Penrith boys were on fire.”
