dude he sucks,

as i have said all year i would have had brodrick wright in the team he is named as 18th man and i really hopes he gets the nod over harlen

atleast the nyc players have a go theres a couple there that i think would go better than cuthbo and cordoba ( odonell and goode )

Reckon O'Donnell and Goode would go well as bench props in first grade then yeah?

you thought and said this and it didn't happen? don't the coaching staff realise your baseless predictions are better than their judgements on their own players?
what is the world coming to where the people on the inside get to make the decisions!
do you really think for some reason the coaching staff are picking him despite there being better options?

greg_bird hasn't seen Wright play this year. He's been crap and I keep saying that and greg_bird keeps calling for him to be in the team anyway. He isn't even good in NSW Cup so why does he deserve to be in the NRL?

Anlezark? Big unit, like 195cm and 115kgs.

Can't go wrong with a few more Dougies.

Yep that's the guy. He looks great and I reckon will step up.

Sharks Harlen Back For The Old School

Sharks Harlen Back For The Old School
16/04/2010 2:11:05 PM

Hisense Sharks second rower, Luke Harlen, will make his return to the NRL this weekend against the Brisbane Broncos.

Having made his debut for the Sharks against Manly in Round 3 of the 2006 competition, the 25-year-old has managed just seven first grade games over the past five years and is determined to hold down a spot in coach Ricky Stuart's weekly seventeen.

'Stumbles' played two games with the Sharks in his debut season but then made a move to the Wests Tigers to further his career under coach Tim Sheens. He found it hard to crack back into first grade however and then headed north in 2008 to the Cowboys to chance his arm alongside some quality players like Johnathan Thurston. He played five games for Graham Murray's side and has since moved back down to the Shire for the 2010 season.

Harlen started out in the NSW Cup for the Sharks this year and after some impressive performances and a solid work ethic, Stuart has named him on the interchange bench in place of Adam Cuthbertson with Broderick Wright also named as 18th man.

If given the green light, injured Sharks winger Luke Covell, who was at the club when Harlen made his debut in 2006, believes the hard running forward won't let anyone down.

"Luke's just one of those blokes who definitely won't let you down, Covell said.

"He'll get the job done and there's no fuss about him. He's definitely matured as a player since 2006 and is a pretty strong bloke."

"He's just old school you know, give him the ball and he runs very hard, tackles very hard and has a great offload on him as well."

The game will also see halfback Tim Smith come up against his former club.

Coolum... you offering to do the research?

Seriously mate... many, many, many hours go in to make this forum what it is and not one hour of that is paid to any one of the volunteers who keep this forum running.

And yet, you complain?

On so many occasions, Moderators and myself have sought to get the assistance of the sharksforever members in simple tasks like helping in the archival of images and newsfeeds that we gather and very rarely is that assistance forthcoming.

And yet, you complain?

We actively encourage sharksforever members to take photographs of NRL, NSW Cup and Toyota Cup Games which they do graciously and post it here to this forum.

And yet, you complain?

We have been the ONLY forum to facilitate semi-live coverage of Sharks games (at all grades) when there is no main stream media coverage.

And yet, you complain?

We have correspondents who do their best to comment on all Sharks games from SG Ball (and sometimes Matty's Cup) by attending matches and filing reports.

And yet, you complain?

We have community based initiatives that we have instituted that support Sharks players and the Club that are trying to leverage the Sharks in to a position of greater engagement and respect in the community.

And yet, you complain?

The Cronulla Sharks were born in 1967... at a time that the world called "The Summer of Love". At that time, the saying "You're either a part of the problem, or part of the solution" was born.

I ask you... are you a part of the problem, or part of the solution???

When you typed the exceptionally cynical statement "FFS this forum blows." I'm wondering whether you were ever man enough to actually go out and do some research yourself and bring it back to this forum ... or perhaps make an effort to go see a development squad game and give a report on the players yourself.

Or do you just see it as your right to sit back and complain?

The inclusion of Luke Harlen into the NRL side was as much of a jaw-dropper to me as anyone... and I've actually seen him play when I go out to actually see our development squads play!

Give it a rest - if you want this forum to be better, put your hand up and make an effort to make it better.

FFS!!!

Why does every current topic have to have YEARS of stuff that is irrelevant now??

It's a pain in the arse.

Your welcome.

You know guys it probably would have been easier to just call him a wanker but I guess you guys are moderators so that would look bad.

So as I'm not a moderator let me be the first to say coolum, pull your head in mate and stop simultaneously wanking yourself and redback.

Whatever you reckon mate, I've had my say.

Redback is a tool of the highest order. To align me with that knob gobbler shows how munch you know.

Faaark all.

It gives a total history of each player/topic discussed.

It's really a good way of doing it.

If you want the most recent stuff, go to the back. If you want to have a look at the whole history, start from the start.

It can be quite fascinating going back to the start of some of the threads about the older players...

It also gives the forum a lot more order.

Because our club has a history.
It really is not that difficult to get to the most recent stuff.

Mate, that's a fair complaint I reckon. I prefer it the way it is cos it keeps things nice and organised, but I can see where you're coming from.

And think you'd have a long way to go to be on par with redback.

Just in case some people are not aware that they can customise their settings so that they can choose their preference for viewing threads:

Thread Display Options

Can I change the order of posts?
You have a choice over how you view threads. When you're in a thread, look at the top bar. On the right hand side you'll see 'Display Mode'. Click on this and it lets you change how posts are ordered.
You have three choices:

Linear Mode
- posts are displayed chronologically, usually from oldest to newest. Posts are shown in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously. It is possible to change the ordering by changing your preferences in the User CP

Threaded Mode
- a tree is shown along with every post. This shows you the relationship each post has to the others. It's easy to see who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time. By clicking on a single post in the post tree, the page will show that post and all posts made in response to it.

Hybrid Mode
- This is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed as in the threaded mode, but many posts are shown at the same time as in the linear modes.

Viewing New Posts or Today's Posts

How can I see the latest posts?

There are two ways to quickly view recently created or updated threads.
If you are not logged in, the 'today's posts' link will show a list of all threads that have been created or updated in the last 24 hours.

If you are logged in, the 'Today's Posts' link will change to 'New Posts', which gives you a listing of all threads that have been created or updated since your last visit.

The administrator can also set up the forums so that each thread you read is marked in the database. If this option is set, then new threads (or threads with new posts) will not be marked as read until you have actually read them.

There is a built-in time limit to this, however, that will automatically mark all threads as 'read' after a set number of day, whether you really have read them or not. The default setting is 10 days, but the administrator could make this higher or lower.

..............

I hope that helps

Reckon O'Donnell and Goode would go well as bench props in first grade then yeah?

no i dont think they would make good props.

i think dougie and snowdon can atleast play 70mins each

what i do think is that the pair of them show more enthusiasim than cordoba and cuthbo, it would hurt to give one of them a 15-20min stint in the nrl

for ****s sake ricky didnt even play cuthbo against the eels.

yeah the coaching staff are doing a bang up job mate.

for starters

we have had injuries to collis and covell during the season and still

we have used 2 fullbacks ( stapleton kelly )
we have used 4 wingers ( gordon covell stapleton fergo )
we have used 5 centers ( stapleton fergo tauati collis pomeroy )
we have used 1 5/8 ( barrett )
we have used 3 halfbacks ( smith morris porter )
we have used 5 props ( douglas snowden cuthbo cordoba vave )
we have used 3 hookers ( flano aiton morris )
we have used 3 2nd rowers ( gallen milo tupou )

why the changes if they know what there doing ?

Haha yeah good point. So let's look at the quoted figures.

we have used 2 fullbacks ( stapleton kelly )
we have used 4 wingers ( gordon covell stapleton fergo )
we have used 5 centers ( stapleton fergo tauati collis pomeroy )

we have used 1 5/8 ( barrett )
we have used 3 2nd rowers ( gallen milo tupou )

So four of our positions haven't changed. That's good.

we have used 3 hookers ( flano aiton morris )
we have used 3 halfbacks ( smith morris porter )

You're counting Morris' positional change twice.

we have used 5 props ( douglas snowden cuthbo cordoba vave )

OH NO! 5 props!!!

Only real problems are that we've dicked around with Albert Kelly at fullback and that we've had an injury to Covell and Collis.

Thanks for clearing that up MB.

Yeah... I like this idea, I mean, I really do. Why wouldn't we flog two of our best players near to death week in week out in probably the most physically demanding position in international sport? It seems so clear now. Hey- why stop at 70mins? Why not the whole 80? In fact, why bother with a bench at all? Lets just take them on, 13 vs 17! I mean to say, the wins have been coming a bit easily lately, its time to challenge the players a bit so we can get the best out of them. You know?
