Covell

Top post

He reminds me of Elmasri. Not the most naturally talented footballer ever, but he improves all the time.

People on here have been bagging his defence. And probably quite rightly. I bet when you look back in 2 years he is one of the best defensive wingers in the comp.

Hes a keeper

What's Wrong With His Defence?

Best winger we've had at the club for the past 2 years. Only thing wrong with him is he's speed. But put him at fullback and you won't have that problem.

I've got a beef with Covell taking up a position on the wing for us. The guy is only an average first grader. All you Covell worshippers seem to be happy with mediocrity. Sure he is a safe option on the wing but safe does not win premierships. Sure, it may win the odd game but I believe we need two big/fast tryscoring wingers who can change the course of a game with big plays. If Hannay plays first grade we have a good goal kicker and I just cant see Covell justifying his selection ahead of all these young guys coming through.

You should take up that vacant position on the selection panel for the country representative team. Because they obviously have no idea what they are doing and need someone of your ilk to show them the errors of their ways.

P.s: Only joking your opinion is just as justified as anyone elses

Welcome to Emu Plains, please be sure to visit our
so telfon mate you would rather have someone with dodgy defence and dodgy under the high ball ala albert..then have a safe reliable player in covell...he has proved that he is worthy of playing first grade..he has been our best player over the last 2 yrs

Peachey, did you not read my post clearly. When did I indicate that I would rather Albert over Covell? Albert was a great finisher and probably the fastest player to play the game yet he was lazy and when it came to the hard stuff like dummy half running early in the tackle count he would regularly go missing. I did however state that I think Ricky should go with the abundance of youthful talent coming through the ranks who can actually score length of the field tries and make linebreaks unlike Covell. I mean really, at best he has the pace of an elderly pensioner (on pension day, they seem to grow an extra leg on pension day). And C'mon, to say that Covell was our best player for the last two years is the biggest load of crap I've ever heard and I think most fans would agree with me except maybe sharks195 who has a bit of a pre pubescent boner for Covell. All in all I dont think that Covell is the worst player Ive ever seen, but I would rather the hare instead of the tortoise on the flank for the sharks. And yes, I would rather Albert over Covell because Albert was clearly a better player.

2 Questions:

1- Didn't Covell play representative football last year? And if so wouldn't this sugest that people other than 195 had or have wraps on Covell. Some of the people that may have had wraps on him are- Chris Anderson who bought him, Stuart Wraper, Craig Wilson and Adrian Lam who have kept playing him in 1st grade for the last 2 years, oh yeah and the country and NZ selectors. So while you may be a football talent genius,it appears some other people with pretty decent resumes would beg to differ on your opinion of Covell.

2- Is it possible to actually have a pre puberty boner (and I don't actually want an answe to that question, as I am just taking the piss)

Sempa, there is a glaring omission from that list - Luke's no.1 fan, none other than our very own Jigsaw! :p

covel is great-he does his job consistently.granted hes not breaking records with his speed, but hes solid and not afraid to mix it with the big blokes(taking hitups etc)the added bonus is he is a better than average goal kicker.
if one of the unknown youngsters can hold a spot on his wing-they'll be playing well.
