Its still too early to tell but the potential is obvious to anybody with eyes. The challenge for him is to be good enough to take the jersey off Kennedy, who’s out of contract after 2025 I believe. Liam needs to make himself undeniable to Fitz if he wants to break through in 2025.

That number 1 jersey is still Will’s for 2025 as far as I'm concerned until someone else is good enough to take it off him, or if Fitz wants to move Nicho there (very unlikely).

Liam just needs to stay patient, keep sponging up as much knowledge as he can and keep developing his game with the Jets, if he’s good enough then it will happen.
The challenge for us is to watch NSW highlights and understand they are just that, and that a young inexperienced guy is likely to bring more errors and stuff ups into NRL.
While we are winning games with Will at the back on his current contract he probably holds the spot.

Needs a Kayal Iro attitude
Maybe took him slightly longer (than many backs) to realise he needed to be the sponge CM mentioned, work on what Fitz told him and probably to mature physically a bit more given he plays quite a physical style but by the time he cracked NRL a lot of young player teething issues had been skipped.
Proof if you are patient and do the work the reward will come*

*if you're good enough

Zero Tackle is suggesting we’ve upgraded him into the first grade squad.

Don’t know if that was already known.
Yeah if that's from this article - https://www.zerotackle.com/what-every-nrl-clubs-website-says-about-2025-squads-217041/

I checked the Wayback Machine, and his page has been on the Sharks site since at least August, soon after he debuted:

https://web.archive.org/web/2024082...iership/cronulla-sutherland-sharks/liam-ison/

So I don't think there's much to it

According to NRL.com (which has been known to be wrong) Ison is still listed on the development list for 2025, Hiroti as well.

Niwhai, Burns and Berrell as top 30.

Vea'ila not in top 30 or development list.

Hope this bloke absolutely kills it in the pre season and impresses in the trials putting every bit of pressure on taking Kennedy’s spot next season.

That would be amazing, but it's probably good to temper expectations a bit. He was on track to play flegg last year till Dykes got injured. Another consolidation year and time to fill out will likely be needed. He's still 19 (will be 20 in December).

There aren't too many that burst on to the scene fulltime and succeed at that age. For every Walsh there's 3 Sloan/Duftys. We're in a spot to compete and we can't afford to have a fullback in there with teething issues.

Who is she and why is it the Liam Ison thread????
Hannah “Ison“ plays for Penrith. Seems like she is pretty quick and evasive.
It is an assumption but I’m guessing they are related.
Just putting dots together Chad.

Mate, I didn’t see any caption at all when I played the video. And I just looked again and definitely no caption.
Sorry mate.
The version I can see reads the following at the bottom

“#10 - Penrith centre Hannah Ison's round one hattrick 🙌🏻”.

Hopefully that helps.
