The Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs have signed former Broncos winger Leon Bott until the end of the 2008 season.
Bott, 20, is a product of Westfield Sports High in Sydney's west and played for the Australian Schoolboys rugby union team in 2003 and 2004.
Bott began his NRL career in a blaze of glory with the Broncos in 2005 and was subsequently named their Rookie of the Year.
Unfortunately 2006 was not the best of years for Bott: he injured his shoulder; was released from the Broncos; picked up by the Sharks for the rest of the season but played only one NRL game.
Bott came to the Bulldogs for the 2007 pre-season on a train-and-trial basis but medical staff discovered his shoulder was not stable and he required reconstructive surgery.
After going through extensive rehabilitation and one-on-one fitness sessions with Bulldogs trainers, Bott is close to returning to the field.
Bulldogs football manager Bradley Clyde said, "Leon has already experienced the highs and lows of professional sport in just a couple of years.
"We are excited by the prospect of a fully fit Leon Bott because of his raw speed and untapped potential. He certainly raised eyebrows when in only his first sprint session with the part-time squad he blew them away."
