Winger Bott makes NRL switch to Sharks
June 30, 2006 - 1:34PM
Young winger Leon Bott will play out the remainder of the NRL season with Cronulla after being released by Brisbane.
The pacy 19-year-old said his decision was based on family reasons.
"I am looking forward to a new start and to making the most of the opportunity the Sharks have given me," Bott said.
"I was keen to come back to Sydney to be with my family and I must say that Brisbane have been very professional in allowing that to happen."
Bott, a former Junior Kangaroo, played 24 games in the top grade for the Broncos in 2005, scoring 13 tries.
This year he has had limited opportunities with the Broncos, playing the majority of the season with Toowoomba in the Queensland Cup competition.
Bott is scheduled to meet with Sharks coach Stuart Raper on Friday afternoon.
Following that meeting Bott will train with the Sharks Premier League side with the view to playing against South Sydney on Saturday.
The Sharks will begin discussions with Bott's management in the coming weeks with the view to a possible long-term deal.
