Anyone who does Leg spin in cricket can you please tell me some tips on where to pitch the ball because I do Leg spin but I dont know where the best place to pitch the ball is, I can also bowl the Top spinner and the Googly and I know where to pitch the ball for those deliveries.

Any tips would be very much appreciated, cheers

Dont matter how you bowl it against England old son it will fool our batsmen :)

lol the Pom is wise.

sharkyboy just make sure your wearing an Australian jersey and it shouldn't matter, you'll take wickets. Or you could don a Sri Lanka kit and just throw the f-cking ball.

My shoulder ain't what it used to be, but I always 'chuck' a leggy in here and there so's I can see whatsup

Read through the first five replies to your question.
You've one ball to go........where do you pitch it?

Some of them are jokes, some (all) of them are good advice.

You have to make up your mind which one is a joke and which is not.

When bowling any kind of spin, you should want the batsmen to have doubt in their mind. 'Do I come forward' 'Do I stay back'
'Is he gonna bowl this' 'Is he gonna bowl that'.

You can put doubt into the batters minds by having full control of your different deliveries.

You asked for some tips on where to pitch leg spinners.

Generally, you want to pitch them on, or just outside leg stump (to a RH batter) and have them kick/turn away.

You need to judge for yourself what length to bowl them, because every batter/circumstance is different, as sometimes batters are
in defensive mode, and other times they want to smack the crap out of you. Better still, you wanna sucker the batter into thinking
he is better than you.

Even when batters want to smack the crap out of you, some of them will try doing it from the crease, while others will advance
down the wicket. If you watch cricket on TV you will see that the better batters use both these methods.

This post is getting a little long, so I'll say only seven more things :D.

Next time you're batting in the nets sharkyboy, think about where you don't want a leggy to pitch the ball.

Watch the video that Mega gave you, and work out for yourself the six deliveries not mentioned there.

To be a consistently dominating leggy, you have to consistently practice, but more importantly, when it comes to game
day, you need to bowl with a confidence that makes your team mates know that sharkyboy is in control.

Shane Warne's objective was to make the batter play the type of shot that he wanted the batter to play.

Enjoy your cricket :).

Aussies are always no 1.

You are a Shark! And all your friends on this site know that you are a good bowler.

No.8 I'd give you automatic entry into your local Cawsey Shield side :).
Just because you're askin' questions is enough for me.

dont be predictable.
jeff thompson(although not a spinner!)relied on the fact that he had no idea where his next ball would land and therefore the batsman had no chance either.(the fact that the ball was travelling at 150kmh+ put more of a fear factor into this than most spinners could hope for!)
also work on your stock delivery(legspinner)making sure you can pitch it correctly everytime and then work on changing the amount of spin on it before you go throwing flippers and wrongun's etc.warnie is a great example of this esp later in his career-as he got older he lost some of the potency in his bowling(the flipper wasn't as effective etc)but he mastered the flight and pitch of the ball to still remain dangerous.

LEG SPIN - BUZ Vs sharkboy16

Cricket season is upon us people, and the two finest proponents of leg spin bowling that the glorious game of cricket will ever see are going to jostle before you in competition for the coverted Sharks Forever Combined Junior/Senior Park Cricket Leg Spin Strike Rate Of The Year Champ.

Who will end the season with the lower strike rate?

sharkyboy and BUZWill let you know how their respective seasons are going via this thread...........and ask Admins to add a poll to this thread during the Christmas break.

BUZRound one.............sitting out so he can umpire instead ($160 tax free bucks are needed).

In the couple of practices so far, BUZHas been absolutley ripping the ball at right angles, and at high speed..................Every ten balls or so ;).

The shoulder is feeling fine.

BUZIs confident he will finish the season with a strike rate of one wicket every ≤18 balls

I played an inter-skool comp last week and did really well for my first game this season, I only bowled 2 overs cause it was only 20-20 and over my 2 overs I got 2 wickets for 7 runs, the actual season doesn't start until October 18th, did a good googly and top-spinner
