From Barry Toohey (Newcastle jurno who's been on this from the start)

I’m hearing the Lachie Miller deal to the Knights for three years is finally done. There is strong mail he will be traded for Knights’ NSW Under 19’s prop Max Bradbury.

Thats more like it.

Unbelievable news if it comes off. Great to have more young talent in the middle.

Most of the knights fans are dirty on this if it’s true, they rate him, apparently played U19’s SOO and they think he will be a star
Yeah lot of that around isn’t there
Makes the signing a bit more interesting haha
I guess we might whinge if we traded away a dev player too though

Yeah some of the Knights fans are just being silly he's an u19 he's not going to be in first grade any time soon and instead they get an actual useful player that will destroy the other teams at the bottom of the ladder.

It's a huge win-win.

Obv it would be different if it was some ******** player but Lachie is likeable and fun to watch.

They see another promising junior walk away for not a lot in return... but plenty of water to go under that bridge. Wouldn't be the first kid kill it at u19 level and never be heard from again.

I think I would be upset.

I don’t even think they need Miller as much as they are making out. Ponga at 6 experiment has failed before and will probably fail again. I think a Ponga, Gamble, Hastings, Brailey spine is arguably just the same if not better.

I’ve done a little bit of research on Bradbury now, he looks like a good one and the potential to be your starting front rower for the next 10 years. I’m not sure I would want to swap our best prodigy front rower for a 27 year old who’s played 7 games and plays the same position as our captain and current QLD fullback.

But not our worry I suppose, I’m actually getting excited to potentially have this Bradbury for our future

Didn’t Browny try Ponga at 6 and admitted it didn’t work out considering defensive workload ?

I know time has passed - and it’s a different coach but the jury would surely still be out on Ponga as a 6 …

I genuinely don't see Miller having better value at fullback than Gamble right now. Miller has looked flashy in attack but very shaky in defence. I wouldn't want him organising my line from the back .This is such a weird play by Newcastle..

Ponga will be more up for the physicality of it now, although his head may not be

Unless it's a sealed deal I'm worried that the backlash from Knights fans might put Newcastle management off the idea.
coach knows he needs results soon or he’ll be gone. He can’t afford to hold a prospect at the expensive of getting a piece he needs for right now

That’s what a lot of it seems to be coming down too I think.

Seems like the coach has 12 months or less to keep his job. He wants immediate results now. It appears he sees Miller 1 and Ponga 6 as his saviour.
