I didn’t want Bomber next year and I’m glad we have Fitz, as I have said the club has always had its right to explore options because Bomber didn’t have a contract next year.

But geeze not once did I think this is how it would play out and it truly stinks.
I like Bomber, seems such a good guy and a loyal guy, if he was fired that’s pretty average by the board.

At the end of the day, the club is bigger than one player or coach and if (time will tell) this is best for the club I’ll back the board.

They have done an amazing job with sponsors and Kareela and alike, so I hope people can see the light and back them at least for the time being

Imagine if Dino got a call from Hannay this morning & said Dino,

“I’ve slept on it, on second thoughts, I’ve decided I don’t want to work for you guys, you were well within your rights to look elsewhere & go in a different direction but the way you went about it, being deceitful, you can go f*#k yourselves”

It’s all about opportunity if the sharks offer a young guy or a fringy a better opportunity to play first grade, I think we still get them. I maybe on my own but I don’t really buy in on the young guys will go elsewhere talk, likewise current players not putting in. Personally majority playing for a extension to keep their nrl career alive, think that’s great motivation, all of em would have had coaches they like bite the bullet coming through the ranks.

He'll be used up like Morris and sacked at the end of the year when Fitz comes onboard.

Morris wasnt sacked. He had no contract and he wasnt renewed. No one here knows how Morris was treated unless you are on the board or are reading Buzz Rothfield articles

Felt like vomiting watching Kent and Reeds arguments .
KNOBS

I listened to that and thought Read/Kent’s arguments were far stronger than Ikin and Crawley’s. It’s a business, we had a right to explore other options and that’s what the board did.

Agree to Disagree
Polarising issue , I don't believe any of us will find a middle path
So not worth debating
Hope Fitz goes well and the decision justified , for the sake of us all
PS . might not have been sacked but pretty much exiled from our club because of the decision .
I'll leave it at that

Meeting the day before, stringing him on for another 24 hrs?
F%*k me Dino, show some balls, be a man, look him in the eye & tell him straight.

I don't think the club had expected it all to come to head like this. I think if they had made a decision by Monday they would have told Bomber.

I think they would have had a board meeting that afternoon, and with the media sh..storm circling over them they were forced to make an immediate decision, and for whatever reason, that was to assign Fitz and let Bomber go immediately. I see no logical reason for giving him hope on Monday only to tell him tuesday it was over - the likely answer is usually the most boring one.

the smartest comment anyone has posted. I agree the Sharks Management could have handled it better BUT I think the decision to get Fitz and potentially Ciraldo is a good one.

Unfortunately, given next year is a massive opportunity to reconstruct a team with plenty of salary cap room, the Board had to make a decision ASAP. They will live or die by the results but I will back them.

Also, the players whinging are the ones who have over inflated contracts expiring this year. Let them walk.

And finally, why do you think so many sponsors have joined this year? Because we have told them John Morris was coaching next year, or they had been told of the change and were excited to come on board.

We are only making the numbers up this year anyway, at least we will see who has a bit of ticker and who doesnt!

It was Orr and Morris who called the meeting to put a case forward, not us. We gave him his chance.
If we hadnt, you’d be crying harder

I agree, there is a reason why on the business side of the club we are growing. As much as it was a **** show, I trust the current management team on this, yes Morris is a top bloke but I am not sure if he was the man to take us to the next step.

I honestly cannot wait to see what our squad is going to look like by the end of the year, I think a lot of big money players are going to get their worlds rocked.

same as any recruitment process, you have the preferred candidate but until they actually accept the offer you don't tell your second place they are not wanted. If it had all fallen over at some point yesterday the club may have re-signed Morris.. at least for another year. I also don't believe what the players are saying publicly and what they actually believe, they have to back the incumbent coach just in case he ends up re-signed short term.

Bring on the signings and re-signing. I'm a Rudolph fan so hopefully they start with him!!!

I've slept on this a bit now and have come to the conclusion that we as fans do need to back the club in this.

Yes, it wasn't done in a great manner and yes, it is not fair for Bomber to finish this way.

In my view the media, and most of you on here will know my thoughts on the media, have contributed equally to the mess that has been created.

The club could not win either way with this. Had they been transparent and told everyone about what was happening, they would have been criticised for bad business practices.

If they kept it all under wraps and not told a soul, they would have been criticised for not being transparent.

I like Bomber as a coach and a person but I didn't think he had what it took to take us to the top four or win a premiership.

Is Fitz that man? I don't know, none of us do at this stage. But if none of the top 3 coaches in the NRL, Bellamy, Robinson and Bennett aren't available or willing to come here, then Fitz is probably the next best choice.

We should all remember Penrith did this a couple of years ago to Anthony Griffin, even though he had them in fourth place at the time. It was not a popular decision with fans and the media but look where Penrith are now.

I know some of you don't care for Ivan because of the way he left the Tigers, and I certainly agree with that, but he's now turned them into a powerhouse where Griffin may not have had the same success.

So I'm happy to back Fitzgibbon in 2022 and beyond and Hannay for that matter for 2021, but I'm sure the board will be nervous to see how it all unfolds.
