Don't like it at all, the song is too pop for rugby league and no big hits in the ad at all.

Shoulder charge ban has ruined the advertising of the game.

Yeah good idea badly put together.

The Sharks were robbed, I don't think Ch 9 would have much say in how the ad is made or which team features the most.

That was disgraceful, it was 1 minute of watchin Storm, Broncos, Rabbitohs and Doggies score tries!

It's disgraceful when 4 teams out of 16 get so much exposure!

But then again I'm glad there wasn't too much footage of sharks attached to that god awful song!

It's all about marketing, advertise the most popular teams. It's just the way it goes & always will be. Once we become a force, win a premiership, get the backing of many sponsors & fans support, we too will be a showcase for NRL marketing & advertising.

It's just an ad, no need to get angry. We'll show them in reality on the footy field, not in some commercial, we'll be right =)

But how do you get the exposure to fans and sponsors without free to air coverage? Wether it be an ad or a televised free to air game?

The NRL are the governing body and they should be providing equal exposure for all teams in these type of advertisements. They are not the marketing department for the big clubs, they are the adminstrators of the whole competition.

By contiually giving exposure to only the "popular" teams, it proivdes a feedback loop where the "big" teams just keep getting bigger. Young kids without foxtel probably don't even know we exist.

I'm happy for every club to have to survive on their own merrits, but I don't agree with the NRL favoring some clubs over others and using the NRL marketing budget to do it. There is no fairness in that at all. The NRL's main job is to provide a competiton that has integrity. This kind of thing diminishes the integrity of the competiton. It is clear that the NRL have put their resorces into certain teams and they now have a vested interest in them doing well.

I doubt that particular advertisement would be any less effective in exciting bulldogs fans if it showed a selection of teams scoring tries. Fans watching those ads look out for their particular team to flash up for a second. It would make no differrence having 1 bulldogs try or 5. It does make a difference having 1 Sharks try or none though.

I believe it would be to win more games, or have a big fan base, which we are slowly working on. A fair amount of sponsors don't really want to support / sponsor losing teams, as sad as this sounds, sometimes it's the truth. I wish there was some passionate sharks supporters with successful businesses out there to easily jump on board.

I hate to go it alone, but I actually like the ad. Have a look at what it is trying to do and who it is trying to appeal to.

Rugby league is cool amongst your friends
The ad moves between young people in normal places: the country field, to an inner-city park, to a suburban street, to a schoolyard, to a beach.

Rugby league can be enjoyed by kids, it is not only for people who go with their Dad
The people are all young, yet it really doesn't focus on families. Perhaps the marketing of the NRL in the past, desperate to appeal to families, has had a negative impact on the 'coolness' of the game.

Rugby league is fun to watch and play, it is not just about the team
Traditionally, rugby league advertising has put a focus on the fanboy: face paint, jersey, scarf, team hat, flag, arms in the air, shouting. There is none of this in the new ad. This leads back to my first point - it is cool with your friends, not just fanatics

Don't like the song, don't like the ad and don't like the fact that i have to watch ferguson score a try against us every time the ad is on.

IMO, you're right from that point of view. Just wish I didn't have to see tries put on us!
