This is what happens when you have a player just getting use to first grade then you drop him out of nowhere for 4 weeks then expect him to come back in and be up to speed

Happens all the time and the coach still hasn’t learned

What did he do that was so bad? Gave up a (very dubious) penalty? Surely we are not judging our middles on their kicking skills are we?

I like Jesse but miss on Ponga wasn’t great
That’s a tough call on the bloke. That play where a defender in the kick chase dives at a guy running sideways happens dozens of times per game. It’s a nothing play if Hazelton doesn’t miss Ponga or if Williams is where he should be.

This seems a lot like people have the sharksforever blinkers on. Hazelton and Williams are immune from criticism, so this must be Jesse's fault.

Jesse Colquhoun - Final
I have now done the analysis for all of the games which Jesse played in. Here are his final numbers, with the scale for defence bumped up a bit (I think attack was weighted a bit too heavy).

I'd be shocked if overall he doesn't have the highest level of involvement for all middles. Low minutes, big motor, insane defensive work rate.

A reminder of the scale here.

Attack
6 runs in half a game at 50% possession, spread across the field = 165

Defence
20 tackles @80% efficiency in half a game at 50% possession = 165

* Note that the model tracks involvement and usage. It does not measure performance.
