Savvy old Wayne just changed the spelling to throw us all off. Jangala (Janga) is a play on Changa. He's the love child of Graham Langlands and Wayne Bennett. Saints had some ****en weird "development" programs.

How does Cruz look in terms of playing first grade one day, Burgess? I haven’t seen him play, but I’ve seen his name around a lot. Reckon it’s just a matter of time, or is it anyone’s guess?

Hard to tell from watching 20’s tbh. Obviously the team rate him because he is in the top 30 ahead of some older guys. Once we’ve seen him run out for the Jets for the first 6 weeks of the season we will have a better idea of where he is at.

How’s Jangala Bennet? He’s this age isn’t he? Has he played any games for us yet?

Not sure what to expect from our Jersey Flegg Team this year. Whilst I know we won it last year so you'd assume we'll still be competitive most of the players if not all the key players are going to play up a grade.

Polselli
Trindall
Lumelume
Cruz
Carr
Wilton ?
Xerri

and probably more.

In saying the whole point of successful juniors is to prepare them for first grade so it's doing it's job. Just not sure how strong this year's team is.

Polselli, Lumelume and Carr can't play 20's anymore. Add Ferris to that list.

Of all of the U20 guys (you missed Mulitalo) I'd say Xerri is the only absolute certainty to stay up.

You raise a valid point though. Of the 17 from GF day only Millard (five-eighth) and three middle forwards are guaranteed to be in the team (Raper, Kula, Caughlan). If most of those guys you mentioned end up playing for Newtown, the 20's is almost an entirely new squad.

There are however a few players to be excited about in the 2019 squad:
- Bennet most people have seen highlights of by now
- Tevaga played a few games last year and went well
- Ernst and Broadhurst are both decent; Ernst sat on the bench for a game last year but didn't play
- Scarpelli missed a bit of footy last year but was a gun before coming down from Qld
- Longmuir is a gun
- Pele is a weapon
- Lerenzo Mulitalo isn't as good as his brother, but by all reports goes well

The 20’s season starts the same week as the NRL season. Not much video is available until then.

... and if you look a few posts back you’ll note that Bennet is born in 2000 :)

Quick correction here. The draw was released. Technically the season does start the same weekend and is aligned with the NSW Cup, but every JF team has a bye in week 1. The first actual games are the on the weekend of 23rd/24th.

What about William Swann? I know him slightly, he’s the kid I got an apprenticeship for last year.

Will he be in the 20s?

What? lol round 1 is a bye for everyone? Whats the reasoning behind this? Something that ridiculous must be the result of some other ridiculous rule. Exploiting a loophole?

The 20's competitions in both Qld and NSW are both aligned with the State competition but there are deliberate/strategic byes to align with University exam/assessment times.

Qld U20's all teams have byes in rounds 7, 14 and 18
NSW U20's all teams have byes in rounds 1, 10, 11 and 17

Last season Victoria played in the Qld U20's comp, which meant that both comps had an odd amount of teams and everyone had to have byes throughout the season. Victoria now plays in the NSW comp so there is an even amount in both comps.

In Qld the U20's travel with the ISC team and play immediately before.. hence the reason for aligning the draw. Except for when an ISC team plays in PNG --> Western Mustangs (Toowoomba) are swapped in the draw for PNG Hunters.

This can't be done in NSW Cup (the teams are so different) but they still want to draws to align so that finals are the same weekend etc.

Yeah but why have a bye in round 1? Why not just have round 1 a week later?

I'm not the smartest bloke but it seems just a tad retarded.

Chad - I should have also added that he played in the trial for Newtown last week against Newcastle.
