Jack Rogers was playing for the Burleigh Bears last year. He didn’t play Q Cup at all - he played 5/8 for their Reggies. I watched one of his games.

It's also possible they are down playing local A grade; Como haven't released a player list yet and Gymea had a bye in round 1.
Como had a forfeit from Paddington, from what I’ve heard so far I don’t think they’re expecting any big names from the Sharks.

I was wrong about Como too. Jangala Bennett is apparently playing for them along with another couple of sharks.

Watched the second half of this game. Lots of new players in this team and Roosters have a pretty good team and so there was no real standouts.

Couple of things to mention.

- We must have the smallest wingers ever. They seemed pretty capable but they're short.
- Fullback looked pretty decent, like to see more of him.
- Kula looked good
- Pele is even bigger than last year.
- Hooker gets very involved

Defence is very good, only let in 16 points all year so far.

Currently only team undefeated. Have the Panthers who are second this week, so another good test.

8 -6 our way.

Think it was 6 all at half time, then we kicked a penalty goal in the second half.

There was a fair few breaks etc, from both teams but neither could take advantage.

Cheers - Here are a few others who are in the 20's squad but not the top 17 ..

Nathan Atkinson - De La Salle
Cooper Bowen - Engadine
Jangala Bennet and Lachlan Scarpelli - Como
Mitchell Brennan - St. Josephs' 20's
Luken Caldwell - Gymea 20's (he was a trial player for the Sharks. Not sure he made the squad)

Score line says it all but this was a blood bath.

The Panthers just made break after break, broke so many tackles. Seriously our team looked like they were fielding an U16s team they were out matched physically.

I'm not seeing any future Frizell's, Peachey's or Holmes in this squad that's for sure.

Not all bad, between Nikora, Katoa, Carr, Wilton, Ferris, Mulitalo, Brailey's, Trindall and Xerri we have a lot of youth to bring though.

Chad - William Swann is also playing for University.

No idea how he is going. There is no footage for the Sydney Shield early in the year, but in previous years NSWRL starts to add more coverage of lower grades around June.

Thanks mate, I really appreciate the info and we’ll see how he goes.

He’s doing well in his apprenticeship so that’s always there for him.

Jangala Bennet is named on the extended bench this week. If he gets a run it could be entertaining - the Thunderbolts are pretty ordinary.

Kayo are streaming some of the Jersey Flegg games this year but I'm having a hell of a time figuring out in advance which ones they are doing. The Kayo service is great but the tool itself can be tricky for actually locating the content you are looking for or providing a "TV Guide" of what is coming up. Hopefully we get 1 or 2 Sharks games.

Here is an update on the Jersey Flegg team through round 9. Rounds 10 and 11 are full byes for University exams. The team is leading the competition with 7 wins, 1 loss and +134 F/A. Their one loss was against the second-placed Panthers.

The players who are up with the Jets have all had a cameo in 20's (Wilton (3 games), Trindall (2), Topai-Aveai (2) and Ronaldo Mulitalo (1)) but aren't part of the regular line up.

Regular Lineup
The lineup has been pretty consistent other than when the gun players drop down from the Jets. Here's how they are lining up most weeks. Players in bold were part of the 2018 team.

1. Jonaiah Lualua
2. Jonah Ngaronoa
3. Jensen Taumoepeau
4. Vito Tevaga
5. Josh Delailoa
6. Jayden Millard
7. Angus Ernst
8. Tom Hazelton
9. Isaac Longmuir (Played the first 5 games but is currently injured)
10. Monty Raper (C)
11. Tom Caughlan
12. Jack Boyling (has played the last 3 games)
13. Fine Kula
-
14. Franklin Pele
15. Connor Luhan
16. Jackson Stewart
17. James Russell

Other players
Tom Harris has played 2 games
Lachlan Scarpelli has played 3 games in total. He is starting at hooker with Longmuir out

Squad members playing in other competitions (20's or above)

University/Glebe Lorenzo Mulitalo, Zane Elsey and William Swann

Como - Jangala Bennet, Tom Colquhoun (SG Ball), Lachlan Scarpelli

Gymea - Kai Broadhurt, Jack Gould, Adam Mortlock, George Sukanaivalu, Laken Caldwell, Kyle Pickering (SG Ball) and Sidney Noppen (SG Ball)

Engadine - Cooper Bowen and Tom Harris

De La Salle - Nathan Atkinson, Tom DeMeio (SG Ball) and Marco Talagi (SG Ball)

How’s Pele going? I remember seeing a highlight package of his. Looked like he broke the line for fun

He's a big human, certainly makes an impact when he plays. He reminds of Junior Paulo alot.

I think he's a bit of a project player but certainly has the size to make an impact, fitness will be the biggest thing.

I've liked what I see from Kula, but he's always been highly rated.

Outside of them for the love of me I am struggling to see who the gun players are - to me atleast there's still no obvious Frizell, Peachey, Holmes, Brailey etc type player that screams first grade. Sure Raper and Longmuir and solid but not sure on their first grade potential.

Be interested to know other peoples thoughts on who else to watch out for.

Yeah Tiger - I think this team is looking like a good solid team without star potential. It's probably significant too that almost the entire team are in their 19yo year so their is plenty of room/time for improvement. E.g. At 17 Briton Nikora couldn't make the "A" team at PBC, and at 18 he couldn't make the Sharks 20's starting lineup.

Obviously the best five U20 players in the club are the ones who aren't playing U20s. Outside of that I rate Millard, but only to a similar point as Polselli (worth keeping at the Jets for a year or two to see if he develops) rather than as a future NRLer. On Pele, I find sometimes got a bit of that Fifita sloppiness about him (lazy play the balls etc.). Needs to sort that out.
