Couldn't have said it better, when people re talking about $1m for halfbacks, 5/8s and Fullbacks, 650k will be the going price for a representative centre!

I know its what players will command. But at what price do you get Jennings here. Get him here and fill our cap to the brim, meaning no extra dosh for Todd? We've got a tonne of players who NEED re-signing or theyll split with better contracts. Im not saying I wouldnt have Jennings, as he would pretty much complete our team to an extent, but I just dont think 650,000 is feasible, his ability is second to none, but i guess like Todd in a way, but in alot of ways completely different, he has an attitude problem, and a problem with keeping his social life in check. To be a player showing up to training pissed etc, is bad enough, but to get his back up for the reprimand i think is pretty childish, and shows alot of immaturity in a person.

Yeap, but I wouldn't be surprised, that it's only a front to the media, as we have done that before, ie last year.

I have no real hope that we will get Jenko but as matty C has said we have done the same thing with Barrett Lewis and Carney and if it leaked first would have done it with Ryan and Heighington. It seems to be the thing to do.

Some maths on what I believe our cap position to be......

Off contract we have carney 500, pom 200, wright 100, Gardner 200, chad 100, tupou 420 (may have more than this but let's work with these numbers....

So that's 1.5mil in players coming off contract for 2013. The cap is expected to rise to 5mil from 4.2 so that's 800k up front for 2013 we have to spend this year and 2.3 for resigning players.

Out of those players Jennings 600k carney 800k and the other 900 can go to whoever the ****** wants to stay and win a premiership!!! (I just realised I left Morris and Robeson out of the off contract players, so add some more to those numbers!!!)

Did you factor in the other guys who probably have clauses stating a raise in salary if a cap rise occurs? Gal for example

That is complete jibber.

Existing players get a huge cut of the pie of any increase in the cap. For the sake of simple maths say im on 300K, with a 10% increase built into any cap increase, there is 30K gone on an existing player. The extra cap $ isnt a fresh amount most of it is taken by agreements with existing players.

That post wasnt directed at you, i suggested last night the same as you have today and copped some kickback for it cos people wanted to know who told me, i refused to give my source away, its no big deal, water under the bridge.

Main thing is the club just stops looking for players and focus on 2013

Why would you want to do that for. A club should be always looking for players regardless of what time of the year it is especially when you have the chance to get a state of origin back in a position that we need

FFS - nobody on here could ever do the maths on our current salary cap or prospective new salary cap. Nobody here knows the true contract valies of any of our players (including 3rd party, long term player arrangements etc)

Anyone that argues along these lines is full of ****

Mate the skipper has come out this week and said the club has lots to work on, chasing players is all well and good but when it comes down to it you can only rely on the players you currently have signed, if the coach doesnt know anything about chasing jennings then lets get on with it using the players we have.

If our club can't manage to coach our team and negotiate with other player including our own then we have massive problems. I get what your trying to say mate but I disagree with it
Also do you actually believe what flanno said. Your source said we missed out on him so that must mean we were in talks with him correct? You think flanno didn't know about the talks
