The rule is actually the last man signed sits out until the club is cap compliant. They can shed whoever they want to get under.

It’s great we will have him for another year. Thought he was so good for much of last year. Faded in attack IMHO towards the end of last season, but will potentially add some strike power coming on again when the opposition forwards start to tire. Hopefully the close call of not getting a contact will be taken by him as a kick up the bum, and he will come out firing

Not named for the Newcastle trial. I thought there might have been room for him in a 22-man squad

Might be a late call up (can you do that for trials)but I'd assume the club will want to do some tests and fitness checks. He's coming back to the club pretty much at the end of pre season and whilst I'm sure he's done some training I doubt with the intensity of NRL

If the second trial is considered more of a round 1 side, or close too. Surely you don't want to throw someone in who hasn't been training. In saying that though I guess 20 minutes doesn't hurt.

Shouldn't be the contract. Jolliffe played last week I think he's on a Newtown contract. Maybe just match readiness then.

Seg may not currently be a registered player though. Jolliffe wasn't contracted to Cronulla but would still have been a registered player by the ARL, with appropriate insurances or whatever making him eligible to play.

I doubt Seggy would be that bad, that he couldn't play 15 minutes off the bench. He's a seasoned player.

yeah and from memory he signed with us only a week or two from the start of the regular season in 2017? And was there in the first or second round. He has been training with us I thought?
