Doesn't anyone think that the Sharks would have consulted with the NRL board before even contemplating moving forward with future development I would be certain that assurances have been given.

I see it this way, yes some clubs will need to merge in future years and I would say one of them most probably with us but I really don't think that we would be relocated what reason could possibly be used. Geographically we are in a strong position, financially we have a positive plan, most others are relying on private ownership and we have seen what happened to the Sydney kings or the league propping them up but for how long can that be done.

In history we may have been better off merging with illawarra and moving the ground to Sutherland, St George have done nothing for the illawarra area besides leaching what ever talent they have and another team playing home games at ANZ for the cash thats just positive isn't it.

Have a think about other clubs that don't even have grounds how long can they possibly survive they talk it up but any one of them would love to be at the home ground of yesteryear. I would think that you would need to look at merging or relocating these clubs first before you looked at the others.

If it all comes off the way the Shark's are planning next year we will be the talk of the NRL for all the right reasons but certain people will always death ride us so we have to as always just live with it please don't join them.

I haven't seen our club and players so upbeat in many years, guys our future is looking more promising then most both on and off the field so lets enjoy it.

Here is the simple reality. If you move a Sydney club to Adelaide, Perth or the Moon it will have the same effect. YOU WILL LOSE THE CORE CLUB SUPPORTERS. Therfore the team will eventually die or it will become a new entity with no roots to refer to in Sydney. AFL is a completely different animal. Say for example, you move Cronulla to Perth. Perth has a population of approx 2 million people spread over a far greater area than Sydney. It also has 2 successfull AFL clubs, a Super 14 Rugby team, and a once successfull soccer & NBL team. These 5 teams compete for supporters and business capital to survive. No one gives a rats ass about NRL in W.A. Trust me I have lived there for the past 3 years (only recently returned in Feb). It is AFL and Soccer with Rugby a distant 3rd. Adelaide is much the same. You cannot watch a live game of NRL in any state apart from NSW or QLD unless you have fox. This is why Foxtel is far more popular in NSW & QLD. People want to watch NRL. They get fox. How could you possibly run a successfull NRL team in W.A or S.A. It won't happen! In the super league days when Adelaide and W.A were in the mix they used to get approx 10,000 crowds. Wow you say? Not bad huh? Unfortunately these crowds were artificially propped up by News Limited by giving away tickets to the mainly Pacific Islander populations of these cities and therefore were not a true representation of what the crowds really were or could potentially have been. We are better of focussing on Sydney clubs and the addition of more clubs in QLD. This is key to NRL survival. Thers is no use in chasing the national pony. AFL is huge in these states because it has grown there. League never did and therefore it will never be a major force in these states. Concentrae on what we have now or will will not have this game we love so dearly in the not to distant future

i believe for the nrl to survive, it needs to keep at its strengths in queensland and new south wales. the only expansion or relocation that should be made is within these 2 states. perth and adelaide have been tried before and have both failed and at the moment rugby league isnt a big enough game in these cities yet to set up camp and just expect it to succeed.

disagree with u there sharks tragic

i moved to perth 2 years ago and like most other immigrants i too got fox and have not missed a minute of any sharks game, and im not the only one. in my workplace theres about 40 blokes who all follow afl, almost half of these watch and go to western force games or at least show an interest and just as many loosely follow the nrl (but all watch the origin series). a team in perth is a must coz all that these guys need is a team - they all agree "league is a better form of rugby'... but especially with the growth of the west and where the people r coming from (eastern states) people here want a team. i dont think the force would have survived either 10 years ago, but i do believe a league team in perth will attract crowds 3Xbigger than what the sharks attract per match.

However i will only follow a perth team (as my second team) if the sharks r not the ones being moved or cut because yes i m very 1 eyed and will not watch another game of league without my cronulla sutherland sharks.
