I'm interested to see what everyone's hopes and expectations are for next year. I know we all hope the club wins the comp- all fans do- but what else? It could be anything from club footy, club politics, junior development, playing style, recruitment, senior squad development, administration or club finances, and it would be nice to see some specifics. Some that spring to mind for me:

- Expectation: Mannah and Vave form a very strong bench prop rotation and that 4 way rotation becomes a real, noticeable strength of ours

- Hope: We can get Joel Tomkins to the club in 2012

- Expectation: That Jeremy Smith will only play two-thirds of our games, but will add enormous belief to the squad just with his presence in a way reminiscent of Ben Kennedy at Manly five or six years ago

- Hope: We see the club's financial future secured once and for all (or almost)

- Expectation: Graham, Collis and Tupou all to have big years for us and show their class

- Hope: Kelly to be given the job at 7 early in the year, and just encouraged to do the simple things- kick long, get repeat sets, shift the ball across the park, and back his instincts

- Expectation: We will see a much more patient, relaxed, creative Cronulla Sharks outfit in attack, and one that will play with a lot more depth

- Hope: Stewart Mills can get some footy under his belt, at any level

What do you guys hope and expect to see?

I hope to see everything you just listed AB bar the Albert Kelly one, I really do not like the kid and never want to see him in a sharks top grade jersey.

Just my opinion of course.

Expectation: Kelly and Graham form a stable relationship in the halves that guide us to many tough wins through out the season. Living up to their potential, rather than faltering in their shot at first grade.

Hope: We sign one of the three gun centres in Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Chris Lawrence or Josh Morris for the 2012 season and beyond.

Expectation: Finish above 10th by seasons end.

Hope: We can retain the likes of Douglas, Snowden, Mannah, Vave and Kelly.

Expectation: The Sharks beat the Raiders in round 1 bruising Canberras well hyped forward pack and earning some league wide respect with our own 'mean' pack.

Hope: Shane Flanagan focuses on improving our attack and we become closer to the free flowing Sharks of the late 1990's-early 2000's.

I agree with all your posts AB except the Collis one. I think last year's Collis is what we will see again this year. Not that it is bad or anything, I just don't see him improving out of sight.

I didn't want to copy any of your ideas, but a lot of mine tie into yours.

Nice idea AB :cheers. I'll keep mine a bit more non-specific if thats ok

My expectation (with realist hat on) is that we will be an improved side this year and finish somewhere about 8-9. We will win say 3 from the first 7-8 games whilst Flanno tweeks combinations and finds his own NRL style. We'll then win 50/50 mid season and 70% in latter part

I hope that we do better than expectations, that Flanno does find his own NRL style, that we find our best halves pairing and we make it into the 2nd round of the semi's. This will bring 1 or 2 v'good signings for '12

That, my fellow sharks supporters, is what my crystal ball shows me

I love how short the memory of the regular Rugby League fan is.

After all the bagging we've received for being so poor, my hope is that come round 24 everyone will be whinging "How do Cronulla fit that side under the salary cap?! "

i think that the sharks will sprint out of the blocks and do very well the first 6 to 8 weeks, winning 70% of games and then will fall back a bit and have a late season rivival..............i hope they just have an awesome season the whole year though and finish first =)

I expect to finish at least 13th.

Everything else is a hope.

Hopes:
* Kelly and Graham form a good partnership that looks like it could stay around for many years.
* Douglas/Snowden/Mannah/Vave form a rotation that looks like it will stay around for years.
* We create a good back rower (not buy one) e.g. Grubb
* We finish the year with Aiton/Snelson combo and it looks like we can keep it for the following years.
* Our young backs shine and become first graders.

What I would love is basically for our guys with potential to meet that potential to the extent we aren't trying to fix problems with recruitment next year, and thus can have the luxury of buying only one or two big marquee players and then trying to get some sort of production line of juniors to come in.

I would love to see roughly the same team stick around for a few years rather than constantly changing things.

I somehow dont think people will be saying it this year.

I would like to see us play some good footy, its been so long. A bit of razzle dazzle mixed with mistake free consistent footy. Along the line of a canberra, penrith and tigers. If this happens super stars are born from nothing. I would love to see a hayne, slater, marshall from this years squad - coming of age year for someone.

This brings me to the next thing I would like and thats more people at the home games. The faithfull on this site dont need any encouragement to get to the games but its the periphery supporters that need to get there. I think we start winning games and playing a better brand of footy than previous years and the crowds should come. When the crowds are there and the sharks are playing well - there is no better place to be.

I would also like to see smith get back to his form of old. If he can we're a good chance of top 4.

Expectation - Vave and Mannah to have big years and be rewarded with good contracts

Hope- Kelly fires up a good combo with Graham that continues for the next 5-7 years

Hope- Main players stay injury free, get a few surprise packets in the juniors, mat wright force his way into the team, making me praise him.

Expectation - semi finals football, i dont care if we are eliminated in the first week, we just need to be there.

Hope- Tim Smith finds his early parra form, and wade graham lives up to his hype

Expectation - a edge backrower before the new season on a 1 year deal.
the club to then target joel tomkins or bronson harrison.
SKD Morris or Lawrence chased as a marquee signing.
Michael Dobson spoken to about the half back spot

Hope:

Just to be there week after week nibbling away at the other teams and to stay injury free.

Expectations:

Definitely at top 8 finish, with the whisper of a top 4, if Hope comes through.

Hope: We perform week in week out with the team we have, and hope we can resign most of that team into on coming seasons, i also hope we can lift that elusive premiership trophy!!!

Expect: I expect nothing less than what i hope for, i believe we have a very capable team to do just that! I also expect the players off contract to remain with the sharks, as we are on the rise and moving in the right direction!

My hope and expectations are pretty much the same.

Forget all that free flowing garbage. Our best shot is to just muscle it out, making minimal errors and penalties and using the strength in our forwards and speed in the ruck to grind a team out of it. St Merge like.

Hope- Cronulla wins maiden premiership.

Expectations- Sharks finish top 4.

you have high standards...

My hopes: A few rain free saturday nights, and a few sell outs in the last few home games.

My expectations: a finals berth brought on by the younger players really stepping up.

Our future to be secured
Our juniors to start coming through
AND
Flake to be taught a lesson in round 1 similar to that dished out to Manly's Ian Roberts by the Souths pack.

Your right mate, I do. But I believe its with good cause this season, with such talent as Gallen, Smith, Topou, Douglas, Snowden, Aiton, Gardner, and the youth/potential of Graham, Kelly, Mannah, Vave, and the Experience of Best and Morris, I honestly believe people don`t know what they are in for when they face the black white and blue in 2011!

Goons fall, Sharks rise in 2011!
