We have signed a young outside back by the name of Delroy Berryman. Source: The Leader.

Here is a link to some of his highlights, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hQ9yZ-U4jA

He played for the Redcliffe Dolphins, the last two seasons in the Q Cup. Amazing finisher and good pace. One to look out for if we have a few injuries on the wing or in the centres next year. Heard it here first folks.

my favourite bit was when that ****ty song kicked in at about the 2min mark.

Nah, he looks the goods. Showed some flashy footwork, some good support play, ball skills and a bit of pace. Interested to see how he goes.

I'm keen. Whether they use him or not... who knows- could easily be another Ryan Tongia.

But anyone who'll put some genuine pressure on Johnno Wright is fine by me.

Question- where would he rate in the pace stakes? Against those at our Club and those in the NRL? A genuine speedster- one who scores 9 times out of 10 if he gets in the clear- would be a great addition.

Quicker than both J.Wright and B.Ryan who are likely to be our starting wingers. Genuine speed, but not express pace I guess.

The few games I watched of him in the Q Cup, he seemed like a real trier. Wanted to get his hands on the ball as much as he could. A trait that more outside backs need.

Too good for Q Cup, but not quite NRL Standard yet. Expect growing pains.

Cool. Any ability under the high ball? Or weakness?

He's clearly not in the Morris/Jennings/Uate/K. Gordon class of pace, hopefully he's got something a bit like Nathan Merritt.

The thing I like about him is that he takes the ball away from contact. Sounds weird, but not many of our backs look to find open space- they turn back and try and bust through holes. Gardner finds space, but erratically. A mix is good.

He's fast, but not off the mark. It takes him about 10-15 meters to really get going.

In regards to pace with other players in the NRL... I'd put him around the likes of Fergo and Ryan. He's fast, but no-where near the fastest.

I'd rate him just under safe. He's like John Williams, sometimes he's fine, sometimes he's not.

The last player we had that did that was Fergo, and whether or not anyone would like to admit it he was dangerous when he did it.

Solid under the highball. Not a flyer like O'Niell, Ferguson, Inglis etc. But you can rely on him to take the grab if there's minimal or moderate pressure.

Really good footy brain on him. Not a selfish player either. As I said earlier, good traits in him he just needs time to develop.

Spoke to a mate who has played a few seasons for the Bears last night and asked him about this bloke. He said not sure if the bloke will ever make it, he has improved out of sight since the first time I played him and tore us a new one a few times. He said if he does make it expect him to be an attacking player who is a bit behind where he should be in defence.

Really happy with this signing. Even if he never makes it, it's great to have young guys with potential pressuring the starting players instead of middle aged players in ike and hotdog.

From some of that support play he looks like a smart player, hopefully we don't turn him into another robot who's scared to move a centimetre out of position.

I've watched him a bit this year, happy with the signing, a good upgrade on Ike Gordon.
