I find it a bit hard to see how throwing your forearm into someone's head is grade 1 careless but just running at them real fast is grade 3.

NAS charged grade 1, happens about 26.10 remaining in first half if you want a look

Only shown in normal motion, no replays from what I could see.

On that one look he definitely appears to raise his arm.

And that inconsistency makes it very hard to learn the rules for someone new to the game.

Kikau (shoulder charge) - grade 1
Maumalo (shoulder charge) - grade 1
NAS (high tackle / dangerous contact) - grade 1 / grade 1
Lodge (high tackle) - grade 1
Finucane (dangerous contact) - grade 3

More like:

Finucane (excessive enthusiasm trying to change momentum of the game resulting in accidental head clash) - grade 3

Maybe an alternative perspective on the events of Sat night -

Last time I checked on Dr. Google most ears were attached to a person's head & somehow a Penrith player got a damaged ear from an aggressive action by a Sharks player on Sat night & the rules don't allow impact to the head . Any knock to Finucane's head was as a result of his aggressive action not in the normal course of play.

If Fifita or Ramien had been the aggressor on Sat night then many on here would have been asking " when will they learn" .

If involved in the same scenario no doubt Fifita , Ramien , Lodge or JWH would have been at least in the bin & on report by time of the second replay.

Not sure " I was trying to change the momentum , sir " will be a great defence at the judiciary but I wish him good luck & hope he can get a downgrade .

But maybe Finucane used up his share of luck when his swinging arm at the speed of sound missed and Crichton only lost a piece of his ear .

He probably is lucky that arm missed but I don't think it was swung with intention to hit either

Cool, so you're going to suspend all defenders now when a head collision occurs?

Well... they won't all be grade 3, some may just be fines.

The real question is can you get done for accidental high contact/headclash on a teammate
It’s the way HIA **** is going. A defender must take responsibility for all in the tackle. So friendly fire is still a head knock
