a bloody great performance from the lads which was made even better by the fact we have only 19 fit players to choose from at the mo . It was a performance to be proud of great defending a much better kicking game and an attact that looked as if we were going to score ....bloody great even the Wigan fans at end were sayin better team won....all in all a great day

Well good ppl of Aus we went into this game with a new found confidence after our fine win against Wigan but came up against third placed KR who had key players back this week following their thumping by Harlequins and with our injury list growing ever longer I suppose it was and eneviatable result

saying that tho we did put in a good performance considering we lost both Hannay and Tangata Toa in the first half to add to Duggan,Mapp,Smith,Tyrer,James so by end of game I think we are down to 18 fit squad members ..but hey next week its only a trip to St Helens...hahahaha EASY

Crusaders v Wolves: Teams
At Brewery Field, Saturday July 4, kick-off 6pm
Last updated: 2nd July 2009

Celtic Crusaders forward Darren Mapp has been ruled out for the season after having an operation to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

Mapp has been sidelined since the Super League victory over Wigan three weeks ago and has failed to respond to treatment.

Coach John Dixon said: "Darren was players' player of the year in both 2007 and 2008 and this alone shows how much he'll be missed."

Mapp has been a key player for the Crusaders, making 61 appearance in three seasons since joining from Cronulla Sharks, including 11 this season.

Utility player Marshall Chalk could be available for the first time since suffering a broken jaw against Castleford on April 26.

The former Canberra player may start at full-back although Dixon says he is not guaranteed to start.

"Marshall still has to go through some fitness tests," he said. "We won't know until Saturday whether he'll make this week's team. We'll have to make a balanced decision on him as we don't want to bring him back until he's thoroughly ready."

Matty Smith was named in last week's 19 but has been left out as he is still not fully recovered from an elbow injury.

Peter Lupton and Jason Chan are also named in the initial squad but neither is certain to play due to injury, which could leave Dixon strapped.

However, Luke Dyer and Chris Beasley could return after missing last week's trip to St Helens through injury.
Omission

Warrington are without Lee Briers (hamstring), Mickey Higham (bicep) and Paul Rauhihi (back for the trip to Brewery Field.

Rauhihi was a surprise omission from last week's squad against Hull FC and has not recovered in time.

Back rower Lee Mitchell comes into the 19 in his place while former Great Britain international Brian Carney is also in the running once again.

"Most have been to Wales in some shape or form but we've not been to the Brewery Field as a team so we look forward to that," said coach Tony Smith. "It will be a tough one. They gave us a tough run on our own turf so going into their back yard will be even more tough."

Crusaders 19-man squad:
Chris Beasley, Anthony Blackwood, Mark Bryant, Neil Budworth, Marshall Chalk, Jason Chan, Mark Dalle Cort, Luke Dyer, Ben Flower, Jordan James, Mark Lennon, Peter Lupton, Ryan O'Hara, Adam Peek, Damien Quinn, Steve Tyrer, Jace Van Dijk, Lloyd White, Lincoln Withers

Warrington 19-man squad:
Louis Anderson, Vinnie Anderson, Chris Bridge, Brian Carney, Garreth Carvell, Jon Clarke, Michael Cooper, Simon Grix, Ben Harrison, Chris Hicks, Paul Johnson, Matt King, Richie Mathers, Lee Mitchell, Michael Monaghan, Adrian Morley, Chris Riley, Ben Westwood, Paul Wood

To be quite honest with you it was a poor game with a poor Ref (French Tit) but thats not sour grapes, on the day the better team won again we defended slightly better this week (but not a lot) its just the fact we didnt look like scoring for very long periods of the game . To mant ball fumbles by both teams meant there was no real flow from either team and with a smattering of dodgy reffing decisions the game was hardly a classic.... the sad thing is we have a lot of injuries to first team regulars and the boys we promote are being found out ....on an up note i had good conv with Josh (hannay) and Darren(Mapp) and they said they still like to look out for Sharks on TV etc while over here ... so all wasnt bad :)

This year for you guys is very much getting the feeling of Super League. Last year you were killing it and it was obvious that this year would be a huge step forward. You have had a few wins this year, but the experience is the most valueable. I hope you have some great signings for next year, as I'm looking forward to a Crusaders finals appearance.

Nash, were you one of the about 10 Crusaders fans that came to Hull? Long trip, I know.

I have to admit that you guys deserved to win the game, Hull were shocking for the first 72 minutes of the game, and you guys played with enthusiasm, and were in our half more than we were in yours. It was just in the last 10 minutes that you guys seemed to lose something, and we managed to scape a win. It was a very flattering score-line.

Well here it is again another heavy defeat and another player lost to injury ...we are now down to bare bones of a squad and it just aint gettin any better as we crashed to a heavy defeat in the heat of Southern France and lost Peter Lupton thanks to a Reckless tackle from ex Shark Birdy :( which now means Lupton misses rest of season and Birdy get hauled before the RFL

Six Crusaders are to be deported
The players to be deported (clockwise from top left): Quinn, Van Dijk, Mapp, Hannay, Dalle Cort and Duggan
The players (clockwise from top left): Quinn, Van Dijk, Mapp, Hannay, Dalle Cort and Duggan

Six Celtic Crusaders players are to be deported after immigration officials ruled they breached visa regulations, BBC Sport Wales can reveal.

The UK Border Agency says visas used to bring the Australians to the Bridgend-based Super League side were invalid.

Captain Jace van Dijk, top try-scorer Tony Duggan and star player Damien Quinn are among the banished players.

The Crusaders said they had co-operated with the UK Border Agency and would abide by its ruling.

A UK Border Agency statement read: "As the result of an intelligence-led investigation into possible immigration offences among players at Celtic Crusaders, we can confirm that six Australian nationals have been served with papers confirming that they are illegally present in the UK.

"We now expect these individuals to leave the country. If they refuse to do so voluntarily, we will enforce their removal.

"The players are prohibited from working in the UK with immediate effect."

The six players are Darren Mapp, Mark Dalle Cort, Josh Hannay, van Dijk, Duggan and Quinn, who have been told they can no longer play for the Crusaders.

Crusaders chief executive Mike Turner said: "Celtic Crusaders have co-operated fully with the UK Border Agency's investigation and we will abide by their findings.

"We are sorry to be losing players who have made a big contribution in making Celtic Crusaders a Super League club.

"This situation does however provide us with an ideal opportunity to give some Welsh youngsters valuable first team action for our final three games of the season, starting this Saturday when we play Leeds Rhinos in Newport.

"This experience will be invaluable to them as we look ahead to 2010 and the ongoing challenge of establishing ourselves as a force in Super League."

Van Dijk, Duggan and Quinn made their debuts for the club in 2006 with Mapp, Dalle Cort and Hannay arriving the following season.

The six players have until Monday, 7 September to leave the country and are banned from the UK for 10 years.

Each of them has the right to appeal, but they can only do so after leaving the country.

The Crusaders have endured a difficult first Super League season, winning only three games.

Off the field, they and their investors have also faced "difficult" financial conditions because of the credit crunch.

The UK Border Agency (UKBA) said the action announced on Tuesday was against the players, not the club.

But a UKBA spokesman said: "We are still continuing to investigate any potential offences that the club may have committed."

If the club are found to have acted illegally, they could face criminal prosecution.

The sport's governing body in the UK, the Rugby Football League, says it will not comment.
