The over-arching power that WADA has is huge.

To very broadly summarise, if ASADA doesn't enforce the WADA Code, WADA is entitled to enforce sanctions on ALL Australian sports.

The extreme position WADA could adopt is that NO Australian athlete or team, in ANY sport would be allowed to compete in ANY international sporting competition nor can Australia host ANY international sporting competition.

Scary stuff!

It is scary but there is a big difference between banning a North Korean team with no policital power outside of their own country and banning Australia as a whole. It just would not happnen. The ICC would be the first to break away from WADA create their own Doping body and continue on. Australian cricket is worth too much money.

The minute that happened, that the second largest sport in the world turned their back on WADA, WADA ceases to be relevent.

It is only powerful while sporting bodies allow it to be powerful. So while they will talk tough re banning Australian sport, Australian sport has way too much power and generates too much money for the them to ever seriously consider that.

And once again in that scenario people that have absolutely nothing to do with the incident get punished. If the Sharks were found guilty of doping and the above horror scenario played out, ALL clean Australian athletes may be excluded from competition. So we end up with people who have training for their whole lives with a tiny window for success being banned for the actions of people who they have never met and have absolutely no association with. They just happen to be of the same nationality. It's just ridiculous really.

As for electioneering on the 'Reinstatement of The 4'...come on you lot, it was as clear as day they were using that as a PROMISE, a CORE promise and it bloody well worked. I know 'the fine print' was that they promised 'a legal review' but that's not what the pissed-up masses on the hill heard. It's not what very good mates of 'The 4' were telling people from one end of the shire to the other. The punters didn't give a **** about the fine print, they never do. So, I'm happy for your boys to enjoy their moment in the sun and I'll eat my words if they come good and do a better job than the last board, but don't insult our collective intelligence by suggesting they haven't broken a promise, morally at least, by not reinstating the sacked blokes.

/Agree

It's not a huge concern for me. I am after financial stability and ultimately on field gain, so if the sacking of the four leads to that in any way, long term I will support it.
But this board have clearly not delivered on that election promise thus far.

what could they do? if we are proven to have cheated we are gone mate. they cant bribe there way out of it

I'm pretty sure there has been a precedent set in the early 2000's where a heap of tennis players were misled into using banned substances. WADA were lenient with penalties a a result. Reading and joining the dots, it's sounds this might be our best reference point to avoid banning our club.

I also want to know why wentworthville weren't banned when both Brendan oake and Tom humble tested positive to a banned substance and both got bans??

I'm so tired of the word "cheated" btw - stop using it without proof of actual cheating.

Cheating does not include unknowingly taking a banned substance.

Rules are the rules but when you consider the Storm systematically cheated the salary cap making the competition a farce (and still benefit from what they built today) it doesn't quite seem fair a team is kicked out of the comp for a few players taking some drugs that may or may not have helped their on field performance. I relise it is different governing bodies but a bit of perspective.

the ceo of val morgan is our chairman... they do all the advertising for the cinemas

I hope this means popcorn and choctops for sale at the ground :)

New board...what have they done?

Read the article this morning saying the board are NOT going to reinstate the sack 4 and it got me thinking, what have these guys done 20% of the way into their term. My information is other than hang around the dressing rooms after the match and asking for additional free tickets to corporate areas...nothing!

What the **** would you know. Ridiculas thread. You got nothing better to do than write this rubbish
Would you feel better if every second day Damian Keogh was on the radio or on Twitter talking things up.

I'm not going to get all wound up about them not fulfilling their campaign promise to reinstate the sacked four. They deserved to be sacked, they should stay sacked. They also shouldn't have been used a part of an election propaganda campaign, but that's for the members to judge in about 20 months' time.

I am concerned about the spending, and the hiring of new people to fill gaps that existed because we were running a very tight budget. I guess I am really worried that Craig Douglas's four years of hard bloody work will be pissed up against the wall in four months. I hope to be proven wrong, I think the talent exists on the new board to prove me wrong and I will say as much if I am proven wrong. Not looking good so far though.

I also don't think they deserve to be doing any chest-beating on the sponsorship front, and I will be bitterly disappointed if Sam Chamoun is welcomed back to the joint, in ANY capacity. He was ripping us off under old contracts and he doesn't deserve the chance to **** us over again.

I give the new board 3/10 so far.

Unfortunately I was one of many that got suckered in to their spin and voted for them, in hindsight I now see it was a mistake. They played the sacked 4 reinstatement card and now it has come home to roost! And where is the front of jersey sponsor they sad they would get and the big end of town they were brining on board. I saw with my own eyes on the new board whining about not being able to get a bourbon and coke in a corporate area that only served beer and wine! Surely there are more important things on their agenda than getting pissed at the footy!..that's what I know!

Sam, I have to back you up. This place is full of creating an hysteria. Maybe this board will turn out to be ****, who knows, but you certainly can't predict it at this stage, looked at what they walked into. If they unite the club at least they will have provided something the old board couldn't at the end of their tenure.
