I voted "Vision" yesterday. Must say I'm surprised at the outcome. Douglas is a massive loss. I reckon he'll sleep well tonight & know that he can just put the effort back into his practice & get paid for his efforts. A number of the outgoing board also deserve plenty of praise for a largely thankless job, & I'll thank them here.

You would never see this turnover in a successful corporate yet I guess liken it to running the country where every now & then the broom goes through the whole party.

Good luck to the new board, there'll be little hiding from a number the members on here, get on with it & all the best.

Just one more note and I know it will get lost but... Well done to Tony Bagnall for life membership of the football club, along with Jim Barnett.

Maybe its own thread mate for life members or something would be better :)

Was at the AGM.

Losing Douglas is massive. The loss of corporate knowledge can't be measured.

There are some quality people on the Unity board. Let's all hope they know what they are getting themselves into and know what they are doing.

You don't think there's an agenda?

I've read all sorts of conspiracy theories today (not just here) but don't believe at all there's some massively sinister hidden agenda.

Yes, maybe they're after a share of the influence that the club's stronger position gives, or more money for the junior league, or other factors, and yes they've enjoyed some highly biased coverage.

But I know at least one on the Unity ticket who would not countenance any of the out there sort of ideas I've read today.

And even Damian Keogh, do you think he'd risk a highly esteemed reputation and a successful business career for being part of anything completely dodgy?

It may sound like I'm just going with the prevailing wind, but I think the new board deserves a chance.

I'm still disappointed that Craig Douglas resigned though, he would have given some good balance, and I would have voted for someone else if I had known he was going to.

I absolutely agree with this bolded line.

I would nominate Keogh and Boldeman as two I have great faith in. I can't see Keogh taking too much advice from the Rothfields of the world, for example. And, while I am sure he'd be courteous to the likes of Peter Gow, he'd still make his own calls on things. I don't know too much about some other members, and I know more than I'd like about a few of them.

It's the hangers-on and 'Old Boys Clubbers' who worry me.

I'm certain that they're after control of this club that has a guaranteed financial future, but now the proceeds will be mostly wasted by paying the bludgers that got elected.

Realise on this forum what the new Directors are going to be paid now...
