What's going on in the shire? Every development or site that we supply to in the Shire is on hold, about to go on hold, just come off hold and now about to go back on hold.

I mean it's like that all round, but the Shire is batting above average.
It's everywhere mate. The whole construction industry is in deep trouble.

Reminder the AGM is tomorrow 6:30pm at Kareela:

If anyone hasn't been before, they are very relaxed, down the bottom of the club (in the function room area).

There are two meetings - the Leagues Club meeting (the longer one, which covers mostly everything), and the Football Club meeting (normally very brief as it covers most of the same ground as the Leagues Club meeting), with a 10 minute or so break between the two.

You just need to be a leagues club member.... as in the member's card you get at the front desk of Sharks@Kareela for like $25 for 3 years or whatever it is (so not the Sharks season membership, but the leagues club). That allows you to vote on motions in the Leagues Club meeting, where all the main business is done. The football club membership is more complicated, you need to pay for voting rights each year, but you can still stay in the football club meeting even without it.

Generally there is a presentation by Dino, where he also answers any of the pre-submitted questions. Then there are various motions to vote on (normally fairly technical), and then general business, which is generally a mixture of useful questions and cringe questions (e.g. "will Talakai play in the second row this week").

You can be as quiet or as active as you want. There's no need to talk or do anything other than raise your voting card. If you want to be more active, you can ask questions in general business, or chat to some of the board before/after/between the meetings. Normally they have the bar open with a complimentary beer or two.

All members are very welcome, even if just to sit there and listen. Often it barely meets the quorum (minimum number of members). I encourage more to go, we are lucky to have a member-owned/democratic club, and the more people who are aware and interested in the process, the better. Particularly younger members.

One note: there's always some information that's intended for the meeting, rather than the whole world... so use your discretion before posting all the information
Anything come out of it ?

^ Surely this can only be a positive. Means it wasn't just a cash donation and they are keen to be involved long term.

Thanks @Six Again , great summary, sounds like a mixture of good and bad, but all interesting.

Roof and facade have blown out even further, at least fit out the same at this stage. Glad to hear they are getting multiple quotes.

Sharks merchandise store is great, and will be good in keeping a relationship with Bay Central. I imagine not super expensive, as there are still some empty spots there, and every time I go it's still pretty quiet for now.

Yeah you'd think it's a positive. They probably also want to ensure their money is used wisely.

I'd imagine that he's a very busy person. Pretty amazing that he'll spare the time to help us out.

when they say hospitality on gameday, does that mean corporate only?

lack of vocal support is interesting. i have long felt the crowd is quiet.
tell ya what, we get yelled at over the PA for 20 minutes by dane wheeler n co to fire up on those awful speakers pre game and by gum, it leaves me sort of unwilling to yell and scream as i have been audio tortured.

Vocal support? How about we start putting in consistent performances and putting teams away so we aren't nervous for the full 80 minutes.

Go back to the mid 90s when the Sharks were playing above their weight each Saturday night at Shark Park. No problems with vocal support back then.

I was thinking of this too. I hope it doesn't mean they ramp up the ground announcers involvement.

Yeah while I tend to get there early, most people show up in that last half hour which is all screaming. So the only time you get to chat to your mates/family etc is when the game is on!

I don’t know what the answer is though, as i think we still do need that hype up, and the atmosphere does get pretty electric before kick off

If the crowd supports more vocally maybe we will get more 50/50s and then will play better?

Mostly a joke question.

Hospitality covers anyone paying extra to be provided with food & drink in a specific location . eg Upper Peter Burns which has been out of action since club closed .

Agree about the speakers , I sit under one & have no idea what is being said most of the time . It is even worst with some of the noise that is played under the guise of "music" . Before you enter the ground the DJs outside the gates generally play uplifting & energising tunes but inside with the PA system it is just loud noise .

We seriously have the worst match day going fans in the NRL and its good the club and players are bringing this up. Everytime I go there you can hear a ****ing pin drop, no matter if we’re winning or losing. Its ****ing embarrassing and those fans should be embarrassed for themselves.

Who out of us hasn't been doing their bit to tell the ref to gettem onside?

Seriously though, embarrassed for themselves is possibly a bit rich. I usually think the atmosphere is good in my seat, but that has the benefit of some rebounding acoustics off the grandstand. Whilst the crowd could be better, the limited capacity and open-air layout do play a part in the volume.
