The crowd calculator at Pointsbet seems to be stuck on 12,000 plus a variable number these days regardless of the crowd density & lemgth of queues .

I felt the crowd support was flat all night . It has been the same at a number of games this year particularly in tight games .

Last couple of seasons the club had a recorded Sharkies Sharkies chant to get the crowd warmed up , but like a lot of things these days just because a couple of fans did't like it , it was canned.

I am told there were a lot of empty seats in the upper ET although I couldn't get two tickets together for it .
Being a semi run by the NRL they probably couldn't have done the recorded Sharkies chant anyway

Yeah the more I think about it, the more you realise how difficult it is.

Just finding that right group of supporters who are loud and passionate but don’t go over the line, who have the time/commitment to go to most games but are a good mix socially and no conflicts. And balancing the organic vs official approach.

Plenty of excellent CSSC leaders have tried to work it out and keep things going, with various levels of club support, and clearly not easy.

Also the fact that the good seats are now basically all sold out each year, so where do you find a bay anyway.

So I don’t know the answer. The club meets various good young charismatic people in various clubs via the Sharks have Heart program, and maybe some of them could be brought on board to start something. Or get Andrew Fifita in there at home games.

The Chook Pen manage it. I have a couple of mates in there and they have a great time at their home games and made good friends. And somehow keep it going year after year. I think the drum is a big component, just a simple easy chant - Easts
That rules most of us out!
Happy to take this on board if given “sponsorship” to get me into the city each fortnight.

😉😉

I thought it was OK at the beginning but just like the team they seem to lose interest in the game in the second half.

Can't see much funding coming from Government for a while regardless of what PVL says.

I dunno, he's seems to know pressure points.

He's already used his biggest bargaining chip in the GF, but he can still offer Nines and Magic Round I guess

Unfortunately, The NRL doesn’t have a strangle hold that enables them to bend the government to it‘s every wish.

Whilst id love to see us get the funding, I’m not holding HB’s breath ……….

Plus you might see NRL coffee ip $$ and or some of $$ from pennies thing being diverted.
with dragons slowly moving away from the area also and investing more in gong. we are stragetically placed to counter the soccer threat

Got a question if anyone can answer it.
It the ongoing and long overdue development at Shark Park, why didnt the BOD copy the Panthers model and make a HUGE gaming section at the new club.
Panthers have been able to fund their own centre of excellence plus plow heaps of $ into local junior development all becuase of the casino like ganes room at the leagues club.
Theyve also got about 4 different restaurants in the club as well serving different cusines so familys will flock there for dinner.
Just seems like a big missed opportunity again

Is there space for a HUGE gaming section and multiple restaurants?
Or would it be by eating into space sold?
If the second one then I guess that is your answer - immediate sales value was preferred over Leagues club expansion for potential profit. Rightly or wrongly I don’t know.

Its just poor management, and that short term loss should have been factored into a long term gain

Space, budget and potential returns would a reason but access to poker machines licences is a major factor.

Remember that Panthers have bought probably over 20 clubs in the area which is mainly for their poker machines. They can then slowly bring them all back to Panthers.

We have our own club and Kareela to draw from.

My guess would be is it's a case of don't put all your eggs in one basket... Kareela does well off the pokies, but it's always subject to sudden change in laws.

Plus in the end, it's a dirty business, which nobody really wants to be involved in if there is an alternative... and the club's views and outdoor deck etc allow that alternative. It is going to be tough though competing against the new Feros venues in Cronulla.

Aren't we looking at purchasing another venue?
