While I have never seen an episode it seems like from a tv channel/advertising perspective that show does not suck at all.

Happy to keep not watching it myself though
I am happy to not watch it either. But if you can market that garbage, you can market soccer.

It's far and away the most played sport in the country. If it hasn't taken advantage of that market buy now it never will.

We've made the World Cup how for close to the last 20 years.

Plus th best players don't play in this country.

@Capital_Shark will disagree but it will never be much more than what it is.
If concussions continue to be more and more of an issue. You might find the NRL and AFL will have a much larger problem and become unplayable. Soccer is at no risk of this.

Yeah but as I said, there's already a shitload of people that play the game. Won't change anything. Most people that like to watch soccer will keep watching the EPL or the like.

They could pre-record all of the games, then when a goal is just about to be scored they cut away to the player explaining how excited he is and dropping a watercooler friendly catch phrase, then jump back to the action. People love that stuff

I have a lot of mates who are soccer guys.

Played it all their life. Wake up in the middle of the night to watch the EPL, World Cup, champions league. Are obsessed with the Socceroos. Go and watch the local league.

And they have never got into the A-League - even when it has been going well.

My opinion is, if they can’t convert those guys, what hope has the A-League got.

Exactly right. It will never be a big competition.

A-league needs some good free to air tv rights deals. Will it happen. Probably at some point. No idea when though!

The deal with Channel 10 was supposed to lead to that moving forward, but Paramount Plus have bottled the games coverage so much its turned into a backwards move.

Channel 10 does an ok job of promoting the league sometimes, they’re sports news coverage usually leads with A-League stories, they cross promote on some of their shows, but Paramount Plus have dropped the ball big time on their end of it.

Did they ever say why they didn’t want to support the domestic league?

The only way they grow it is if the governing body takes one step back and sacrifices broadcast money for the sake of getting more eyeballs on their product.

Get three games per week on FTA like NRL/AFL. Problem is it rates shithouse so they won't get much coin.

We've been hearing about this so called sleeping giant stuff since 2005. It's such bullshit.

This 100000%

The FFA have a **** tonne of money. You need to get the product in front of people. Whilst it's a LONG way off other competitions, it's still not like you're watching park football. Playing it in the summer is a great way to reduce competition. The only think they have to compete against there is the BBL.

Work out a season that starts in October and fills that hole in the evenings in Aus where there isn't any sport to watch. If it's easy to access, people will watch it. There is sweet **** else on FTA.

You don't want to target the EPL fanatics. They won't watch it for the same reason I don't watch the superleague. You want to target kids and casual fans to get them invested. You can't do that without making the product easily accessible.

No they dont.

Plus the FFA doesnt run the A-League anymore. The APL does, which isn’t flush with cash, hence the Grand Final sale.
