I wonder if this has anything to do with that rumour of a third Sydney A-League team being based out of Remondis...?

"humbled and flattered"

These two words have opposite meanings but it seems that in the world of Rugby League they are interchangeable.

Our future leader is the first that I've heard to use them both in the one sentence. Now that's somethin'.

With all the scandals the Sharks have been involved in the past decade, it would honestly surprise me if anyone in Australia that remotely followed sport didn't know who we are.
Over the last couple of years, I've lost count at how many times I've had people say "See your Sharks are in trouble again", from die hard AFL fans.

Well of they manage to land gorman and a major sponsor on top of the last couple of weeks, you would have to give them an A+ for post ASADA efforts.

Wow. Just wondering about the timing of it all. Does the board decide the dates? If so, played very well. With pissy penalties from asada then Gorman, and all signings then success at the nines, now the elections.... Good timing.

I just noticed the lack of time for candidates to nominate - a week or so???? Is that standard.

Notification seems to have been hidden away on the Sharkies (leagues club) website.

Disappointing as most people interested in nominating probably assume the election is not until May, which is was in 2013. I'd say quality candidates would not even be aware nominations are open.

The board is probably fairly safe now given the appointment of Lyall Gorman, but that would not have been the case 4 months ago when little progress had been made in meeting their promises such as bringing in major sponsorships and a near era of professionalism.

So what are we saying here? Are we saying the board have deliberately kept this hush hush in order to easily get themselves elected again?
If so, I'd be very disappointed. I would have thought they'd have more confidence than that. Even though I was not happy with the way they got themselves in, I can't see too many things to be upset with them about.

I really don't think there is any reason for them to be sneaky at election time, I think the majority of people would re-elect them on their current merits. But if they have deliberately snowed this then that is indeed a concern.

In contrast to Tony Abbott . (knob jockey)
We would be mad to rid ourselves of this board
Stability is the key now .
Agree Fitz ?

Aren't members meant to be notified of an up and coming election ?

Would be filthy if these guys got voted out. Finally feels like we have the right administrators on board and gone along way to fix the poor culture our club has had for many years.

It does seem highly strange that there has been a barrage of communications coming from the Club about everything else but this. I'm also led to believe that they're also pitching for a 3 year term as opposed to the 2 year term. Not too sure how that could be done without changing the Club's constitution.

Rather than speculating... why doesn't someone email Lyall and ask if it has been done correctly? I will email him if someone gives me his email address.

Matty C, Fitz or Ironshark... ask at the next little get together you guys attend.

As a financial member of the club, this is the first I've heard about it.

Every other place that I'm a member or have shares in has sent out letters out lining an up and coming election.

Or did I miss the mail man that day ?

Are you suggesting he wouldnt know whats going on? I think he would.

I'm sure he knows about the elections but that may be the extent of it, who knows? He obviously answers to the board, not the other way around. He would report to them at board meetings but he may not be there for the entire duration of it.

If the board are being sneaky (and im not suggesting they are, like you I'd prefer to wait and see) then not sure why they'd tell him anything.
