His angle is to get the Sharks in the paper for something good for a change - a positive spin.

With due respect to those in this forum that can recite the history of the club, decisions made, key dates and by who etc, the vast majority of the NRL and reading public dont have, (and will never care to have) a clue...its about showing that the club is on the up and up and not a car crash all the time.

I for one am surprised each time I look in the paper and not see a headline about us at all, especially when we are so used to seeing stories where we (or someone linked to us) f$#ked something up.

We will still have bad stories in the media to come...I say lets not dwell too much on a good one...

But this article was in the leader. Not a national paper. It was delivered to mainly people who either have interest in the club and would read it and laugh or to people who dont give a **** and wouldnt read it anyway.

Even more reason to make it positive. Regardless of the origin of the story, news travels quickly across the different media streams; there is no such thing as a 'local' paper any more.

Not saying it cant be positive.

Its the whole 'since i have been here' thing.

The club was on the up from mid 2012. The fact that he came in at the time he did he has made it sound like nothing was happening til he got there. Which is entirely false.

Honestly, save the truth for the biography. The question asked was "what is his angle"?

As per my first post, and with repect to alot of people on this forum, they are too close to the story to have an objective view; even when we see something positive in the paper, it is still seen in a negative light because of personal perception.

Truth or not, the ship needs to plot a course so that people not only see and identify with the club, but want to be a part of it (i.e. sponsership)..and all that equals survival.

Unfortunately In this situation, as with a million times in History, the truth is not always the most important thing...

We are 5 weeks off finishing our worst season in history, not long after they kick off 2015, a new board election will occur, iirc.

A little white lie might not hurt anybody but if they are promoting this board as being the ones who dug them from the depths, then there is a few votes.

The simple fact is the short term future of the club was ensured by the peope previous. Will the next board toot trumpets and sing about how keogh secured a sponsor one time

The "objective view" would be that he didn't do **** to get the development over the line. That's a fact.

When you do things like this you lose credibility. Why not just come out and say anything if it doesn't matter? Why not just say "we've got a million-squillion-cajiliion dollars now"?

This is not a good way to earn trust or show integrity.

"When I got elected as chairman, the club had $14 million debt.

"Now, $10 million of that debt has been paid, we only owe $3 million."

He could have easily just said:

"In year X we had 14 million dollars debt. Now because of the hard work of many people and the development we have reduced it to 3 million"

or, if he didn't want to be so kind, he could have said:

"In year x we had 14 million dollars debt, but now because of the development we only owe 3 million"

The above would have been correct AND it would have got good publicity FOR THE CLUB. Same "postive" outcome, no controvery.

It's pretty simple stuff.

And the funny thing is, if he did actually use one of the above statements it would have probably reflected well on him anyway, as he's the one spruking it.

Maybe so, and if all that is sprouted around this place is so, then at the next election, the board will be removed and another will take its place - and then supporters and detractors will be on here again shouting the pro's and con's from the rooftops...

And when the new board is in place, I hope that they do the right thing and get in the media and deliver their positive version of 'the truth'...

My post wasnt to agree or not with the 'truth' stated by a member of the current board...

It's pretty simple stuff.

It is pretty simple stuff...Keogh is doing what polititians have been doing for eternity, chasing another term...

Again, my post wasnt to support the history of the board, but to support being in the paper for something other than being a disaster (for a change).

If you've done so little - to the point that you have to take credit for someone else's work - you're really just screaming how completely useless you are.

This cuts to the very heart of the matter. People become politicians for many different reasons. At one extreme, they do it for the sake of gaining power for powers' sake, and at the other extreme they become politicians because they believe in certain values and want to change the system. The later tend not to claim the work of others as their own.

As illustrated in above posts, Keogh could have promoted the club without taking credit for the serious work done by others. We are entitled to wonder what the hell is his game, ie. Why does he want another term?

Keogh flat-out lied, and lied big - why is this so hard for some people to grasp?

Why make excuses for that?

Yep. I got no idea about the runnings of the Club lately - never really did, and wouldn't know Keogh if I fell over him. Maybe I was living under a rock when anyone gave a toss about the NBL, whatever relevance that has.

So I go no bias whatsoever, or any allegiance to anyone previously in the role.

But straight up lies like that and now I have an opinion of him and its not good.

What a dope. Like slidey said he could of put across the same perception without fibbing. If you're gonna lie at least be good at it.

It'll be interesting to see the sponsor count come round 1 2015 given all these "for the remainder for the 2014 season" agreements.
