Ive got no problem with a bit of self promotion, and ive got no problem with keogh talking up our future. I dont like people taking credit they dont deserve though
It makes me laugh how some of you lot get upset about Keogh taking credit for the work Irvine and his board put in with the development, which is fair enough though I am not sure he actually takes credit.
But you also fail to acknowledge the work Barry Pierce and his board did with the development as well before Irvine. All that seems to get conveniently forgotten. Their model mighten have been as good but they put in a hell of a lot of work of work getting the land re-zoned and approved for development.
Spade a spade people.

Ok, I'll call a spade a spade.
Pierce's proposal was not commercially viable.
It did not offer much in the way of initial or on-going revenues, would have required the Club to become the Property Developers (a business area that they had no prior experience in) and thereby expose itself to all sorts of risks. Even when put out for Expressions Of Interest to find a Development partner, not ONE Developer supported it as a sound project to get involved in.
Also, don't forget that to a large degree the extremely protracted, poorly managed, approval process was one of the prime reasons why the Club had amassed the crippling debt it was in.

no good.Just for the sake of putting forward a true and accurate representation, the land has been rezoned three times since the Gow years.
- Gow Era: 2x Industrial sheds - value to club $1.5m approx
- Pierce Era: Hotel, SEPP5 & small commercial all on Eastern car pack, NPV was negative and no developer or bank would go near it.
- Old Board: $700m project, net $50m+ to the Club
- Keogh / Unity: Nothing apart from spending blow-out and securing the Pizza-Man as the "guarantor"
