Funnily enough that under drop off ball is critical to the gameplan. They're relentless with it and I'd say, without a skerrick of evidence to support it, use it to move opposition forwards around more than any other team.
Agreed.

That coaching/recruiting team is doing the best job of managing the cap and playing to the modern game. Cleary, as head coach has to take the credit for their success.

The game plan is pretty much perfect. Wear teams down early and either crush them or run them down. Funnily enough that under drop off ball is critical to the gameplan. They're relentless with it and I'd say, without a skerrick of evidence to support it, use it to move opposition forwards around more than any other team.
Cleary's late try (which we've seen in a majority of their games) was down to knowing the defensive line was shot and the forwards wouldn't make it across. It was almost muscle memory.

They've cracked the code, and Ivan will without doubt go into that elite echelon of coaches as a result.
Ivan has built a dynasty by studying video of Chad.

JFH listed as 187cm and 104kg
Leota as 182cm and 107kg

Toby - 190cm and 106kg
BHU - 191cm and 115kg
Hazelton - 198cm and 116kg
Kaufisi - 188cm and 114kg

JWH - 193cm and 116kg
NAS - 200cm and 115kg

Instead of trying to buy an enforcer prop, can we buy a couple of enforcer attitudes?

Was a lot of chat this year about Fitz being too calm in pressers.

This bloke doesn't hold back!

Dorking manager Marc White delivered what is surely the most brutal post-match assessment in FA Cup history following his team’s 2-0 derby defeat against Horsham.

“Today was, wholeheartedly, a bunch of players that were absolutely ****,” White said on Saturday (Sunday AEDT).

“I will always put my hand up. I’d be the first to take blame. I ain’t taking the blame for that shower of ****. But what I will do is guarantee that there won’t be a lot more of that from these boys.

“Atrocious. They should be called out. They get told when they do well and that’s how life works. Anyone who goes down that ridiculous thing of, ‘Oh don’t slag the players’ … the f---ing players get paid, they should do a great job, if they don’t do a f---ing great job, they should at least go down fighting.”

White, who founded Dorking Wanderers in 1999 and is the club’s owner as well as manager, has overseen 12 promotions to take the club from Division Five of the Crawley & District League all the way to the brink of the English Football League in the National League.

They were playing Horsham on Saturday for the chance to reach the first round proper of the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

There were at least some sporting words for their near neighbours, who play two tiers below Dorking in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

“They fully deserve to be in the draw,” White said. “I really hope they get something amazing [in the next round], life-changing, so my f---ing **** players can learn a f---ing lesson because they were so poor.

“Myself and the club have planned for this game for two weeks and you would have thought we would have planned it on a fag packet.

“They’ve embarrassed the management team. It’s not about availability, injuries, who was returning, who wasn’t. It was about the fact that that team let the fans down 100 per cent.”

White also said that there was a “fair chance” that his players would get “fined to f---” .

He added: “Some of them showed that, when the going gets tough, they don’t get tough with it, they get going. That’s going to be a short career for them at my club and our club. All I can do is apologise on behalf of the players and the management team. For a team not to turn up in the FA Cup is scandalous.”

Interesting to see as a fan but there is a reason that speech came from a coaching nobody in a semi-pro league and not from an actual Nationally or Internationally respected coach.

If he finishes in, say, top 4 of the Premier League within next 10 years that would lend a lot of weight to his coaching methods. Hell, if he even makes the Premier League that would be something.
At the moment he's just a fairly rich guy with probably a decent idea about football buying his way up semi-pro leagues and losing important games.

Be interesting to know how the players respond, both short term and longer term implications - although I doubt it has made his club very attractive to new signings.
And he is owner/coach so doesn't really answer to anyone, most coaches would get chewed out by higher ups you'd think.

Also, disappointed he didn't call any of his players weak gutted dog people

I'd be appalled if Fitz publicly spoke about our players like that.
Some games last season privately talking to them like probably warranted...

Yep, you never see Bellamy get into a press conference and berate his players. Never puts blame on anyone.

Deal with the grievances in house, behind closed doors

Without the benefit of actually seeing the game……..

but IF the players “gave up” like he suggested then I’m all for it

Players sometimes need that rocket up the arse and if the coach believes he needed to address it publicly, Then good on him.

I’m sure he wouldn’t have if they had at least put in an effort but just had a bad game.
This sounds like they literally gave up. Which is NEVER acceptable

Also having not treated myself to the game your take was my first thought too, if they were blatantly just giving up, walking around, disinterested then they probably did deserve it. Presumably they've put in quite an appalling performance.

But I still think taking it public hurts your club in the scheme of things.

If a player has relatively even offers from that coach who has publicly blasted his players and another similarly placed coach who hasn't then I think most would go to the second option.
This is even more problematic given he is chasing moves up the Leagues - the club he lost to, two divisions down, had I think three former players of his. His progression plans probably have his full current roster gone within next two years as he continues to rise, especially given next jump is to a pro league.
Will a pro player want to sign to the recently promoted club whose coach/owner publicly berated his team the year before?
Need a pretty big response from his team (of players he signed and coaches) this season to risk making his club unattractive to future signings.

I'd love to see Ricky Stuart let rip on his own players like this - I don't think it would reflect very well on us if Fitz did though.
Go as hard as you need to internally though, whole different situation.

Was this meant to be tongue in cheek?

No. He blows up in the sheds or in the coaches box but he doesnt get to a presser and throw players under the bus. He did when they lost that 3 in a row for the first time ever and he seemed defeated.

He doesnt carry on like Ricky.

For me, i dont give a **** what coaches say in a press conference, they only do it cos they have to. Id rather the hard char be left for the training paddock and sheds. If the coach even half mentions somethi by negative about the players its then story after story of this player or that player demanding a release. The media are so bad for the game
