what decencies do people think he has ?

He was one of the few players for us that was undroppable this year but then he got dropped after one bad game in defence

I hope he’s back in the team next week, we definitely need him especially if that new edge of tricky and JC stay the same
Well his defence needs to stiffen up a bit , i love him as a player but he has a bad habit of rushing up and can fall off a tackle , i know he's not alone there tho .
But the rest of his game should have been enough to keep his position .
I agree though I don't believe he should have been dropped , it was a bit of a knee jerk decision .

He's our best left centre at this stage, no doubt. But he was a key contributor to the **** defence on his edge. If he could move even 50% fast laterally it would be great.

Always gives his all, but defense is still a major issue.
The team needs his energy though. That probably isn't enough to give him a permanent spot in the 17.

Replacing Sifa with Tracey because you are trying to fix a defensive issue doesn't make sense.

So maybe Fitz values Tracey's attitude over Sifa's at present. But attitude doesn't change the fact Connor is a small bloke without a permanent first grade position and who has had his own historic struggles in defense.

Some of his rushing up and tackle efforts near our line were Moylan like.

I like Connor's hitups and what he can do in attack at times with his speed and footwork to get around or brush off a player and has shown to be deceptively strong carrying the ball but he is not the bloke that is going to plug that leak on the left.

It might have been better to make gradual changes to the edge (i.e. leave Sifa at left centre) and tweak it over a few games than essentially replacing an entire edge in one swoop and bringing in entirely new combinations considering we had Tieg/Wade out and Moylan dropped as well.

None of us actually ever expected this to work but the coach was hoping it seems

I wouldn't say he doesn't have a position. He just doesn't have one in our current setup.

He's a winger. He just isn't putting either of the current wingers out of their positions.

If we could move mciness in to the starting 13, there might be room for a small utility on the bench, like beale/leutele 2016. You could use Tracey here to inject some speed or Moylan if you want some extra ball playing.

But he's not a centre, no.

Why do players rush up out of the line like Moylan and Tracey? Doesn’t it make more sense to keep a straight line of defence?

I would imagine it's because they see an overlap, so they make an attempt to shut the ball down before the balls gets to their outside?

Good defenders shoot out of the line as well, but that's the difference between a good defender and a poorer defender. Picking and choosing those moments and not coming out clutching at air.

No other club would be dumb enough to take this bloke early after last night

Our left (including Tracey) looked rough, clunky and rusty. Hense why many on this forum said Fitz should have made this move 4 weeks ago. Could have used that time against the weaker teams to iron out the creases.

Nah that logic is flawed cause it makes sense.

I'm not convinced some of our players like Moylan have not rushed up out of the line to put themselves out of the play and get themselves off the hook of having to effect a tackle.

Tracey and Trindall though no they have a crack so it's just a bad read for them / bad communication

BUT when our line defense is so useless hard to blame a defender rushing up to try shut the ball down or even grab it before it spreads and having our centre and winger jam in as a result and a try to opposition. That edge all know they can't tackle or work together so go for a hero play instead.

If Connor can't get the better of Peachey this week he should be sent to Perth to prepare for the jets arrival.
