Ah OK cheers.

I guess reading the rest of the quotes, it makes sense. He's pretty much just saying what most halfbacks do.

No see what you're doing here is adding context to the quote that makes it seem a fairly reasonable thing to say, that doesn't really help Tatus' point.
You'd never get a job as a journalist.

Fox would have headlined that article I Should Be Captain: Chad Townsend and then left out half of what Chad said from the article.

"I've always seen myself as kind of the captain on the field," Townsend said.

"Being the coach... on the field, I've always prided myself on being able to do that.

"When we prepare for games and do our video previews, whatever the game plan is... It's my job to deliver that.

"I think it's one of my best qualities and I find it really enjoyable.

[I set] the standards and playing to a high standard."

Townsend, who has now played almost 170 NRL games and is one of Cronulla's more experienced players, was delighted with his own form on the field last season and wants more of the same in 2020.

"I think individually I played... the best footy... to be honest," he said.

"There were times where we had a number of playmakers out and I... really stepped up and took responsibility. I'm looking to build on what I did last season. [But] that's not going to help me... get... hard... again."

That’s a pisser! You could follow it up the next week with rumours of division between Chad and Morris and how Chad thinks he should be coach.

Really?
I wouldn’t expect anything less than that from ‘the fourteenth’

Handing out drinks, replenishing the fluids for fellow team mates, watch ‘the fourteenth’ this coming season, if he is not the first his is either the second or worse case the third to pat a fellow team mate on the back once they make a mistake on the field, he prides himself on racing to the team mate.

It's his strategy to get us a new sponsor. If you can't find one, build one. Brilliant, really

He has a hotspot for Chads .
What out you're next ;)

Let’s see, what can he write about me that’s scandalous?

I drink Pepsi Max or Zero or cider so I’m pretty soft
My poetry is ****
I pull people up on their spelling
I once attended a Culture Club concert
I took 0-113 one day at Grays Point off 14 overs
My golf handicap has gone from 20 to 30 in six months

Anything else?

batting or bowling

That was bowling mate. Never scored a century in my life.
I got the last laugh though. Played that team in the final and I took 2-29 off 16 overs, got their top two batsman out caught behind after hitting them both in the gonads. We won the game and the comp! This was back in 88/89.

Ah the old 'false sense of security' play, let them think you'll be easy pickings one week so they leave themselves exposed another
