I'm pretty sure Barba, Holmes and Bird are all off contract at the end of next season.

So lets say we can only fit 2 out of the 3 in, who would everyone pick?

I love Benny and what he has done for us, but based on age id take Holmes and Bird.

There is no (good) way we keep all three after next season and I'm worried we'll lose Holmes if he doesn't play fullback next year... and regret getting stuck with old Barba while Holmes tears **** up for another team.

I'll take old Barba over Val any day of the week.

There aren't that many players that can read the game in defence like Barba.

And he's our second 5/8 in attack. I'd argue there's a strong case for him being considered the most important player in the team during this last season.

Be good if we can keep them both.

Yep. He is fantastic. For me, Barba and Fifita delivered that premiership (I guess plus Ennis). Both of these guys are going to be at the top of their game for the next three years.

Val may or may not rise to the level of Barba, but for me it isn't worth the risk. It is time to live in the here and now.

Does anyone think there is a chance of keeping all three after 2017? There must be a way we can do it.

As I've said before, and I know some don't agree but I see Val's future at 6 rather than 1. I see him as taking over from Maloney when Jimmy retires.

Yes Val hasn't shown us a kicking game as yet but I think he'd be pretty dangerous and a good link to the backs. He has that explosive speed of the mark to get through gaps and then put his outside men away.

It is hard to pick between Holmes and Barba. I think of Holmes running it bavk like Martin Lang but Barba setting up tries at the line. Argh.

It is not impossible by any means, but that transition is more likely to fail than not. The scenario you are floating would be great, but they tend not to pan out.

Extremely tough, hasn't been done since the mid 90's.

I am sort of expecting a GF hangover tbh.

Factors against us.

We have just claimed the holy grail.

No Ennis

Our older boys a year older

The stars finally aligned for us, two years in a row?

We are now the hunted, every team, every week will be up for us

Totally Agree , until we have a hooker named hard to predict , we need to change our game a little with Capewell our new utility and a new hooker I feel we are still top 4 material so we are in with a chance.

Multiple players off contract, constant media speculation on who is staying & going

WCC commitments, interrupts a preferred pre season

Players edge might not be there like this yr, only takes a % or two & its enough if you win the close game or lose it

I've voted No, and for me the concern (other than replacing Ennis) is a potential shortage of props. Currently only Prior, Fifita and JSL under contract. I'm hopeful Taga and Hino stay on, but if they don't we're really lacking. The other thing is we had a brilliant run with injuries this year, and we'd be very fortunate to have two in a row like it.

We have lost some depth that we haven't replaced. It was lucky we didn't need that depth but next year we can't rely on luck. Mitch Brown and David Fifita for example.

They wouldn't have been too worried with the grandfinal incoming. Im sure we will see some efforts to fill the gaps sooner rather than later.

Val should be 3 next year with Ricky 4. Bird to 13. Gagan to 5.

True was one of the main reasons we were capable of scoring through backline movements.
