Simple question guys and a simple answer. Yes or No?

Can we go back to back and win it again next year.

Extremely tough, hasn't been done since the mid 90's.

I am sort of expecting a GF hangover tbh.

Factors against us.

We have just claimed the holy grail.

No Ennis

Our older boys a year older

The stars finally aligned for us, two years in a row?

We are now the hunted, every team, every week will be up for us

Multiple players off contract, constant media speculation on who is staying & going

WCC commitments, interrupts a preferred pre season

Players edge might not be there like this yr, only takes a % or two & its enough if you win the close game or lose it

Head says 'no' mostly for the reasons Bundy Shark exposed. Heart says 'yes'.
I'll be greedy and vote with my heart.

Can we? Of course we can but so can the other 15 teams. Maybe the question should he 'will we'.

Theres going to be insane competition next year from some of the dark horse teams. Penrith with Tmm and cleary, titans with elgey back and hayne, NZ possibly with foran as well as sheck back, parra even with norman playing hopefully a full season and french at fb. Add to that the likes of the raiders, storm, cows and broncos again as powerhouses and its a big ask.

Can it be done? Yes. It will however take a breakout year from whoever takes on the 9 jersey, as well as another fantastic run with injuries.

I expect us to do what the cowboys did this year, be competitive without being exceptional, probably finish top 4 or there abouts and play a couple game in the finals.

^ that would still be an awesome result considering where we have been in recent years (bar this year of course)

Who else remembers the many many years of just wanting to try and crack the top 8 haha.... Hopefully those days are over for now and we can continue to cruise in the top half.

We can do it but my hunch is the Raiders. Parra could be a dark horse too.

The mental and physical effort put in by the team week after week this year was monumental - to ask them to do it again for another long season I think will be a bit too much (particularly without that motivation of cracking the cherry)
I think they will give it a red hot crack and be competitive and can finish somewhere around 4th-6th but I don't see us making it past a few weeks into the finals.

That is not a criticism leveled at the coach or players by any mean whatsoever but an acknowledgement and respect of what they achieved in 2016 and what they had to give to get that result

We are fortunate that we already have alot of players signed up and the makeup of our team won't change drastically next season with exception of the massive gap ennis departure leave's

If we can just continue to evolve and grow as a club and playing group while bringing up the next generation of players there will be positives and future success to come from that.

Having said all that I would absolutely love to go back to back and start a new era of Sharkies dominance and will be supporting the boys as usual in their pursuit

Not without Ennis. I think we can give the comp a shake, but Ennis's lose will sting a little too much. I think Canberra will be premiers next year. Plus the motivation won't be as strong.

I hope we do...but.... If we don't I hope my secret 2nd team for 2017... The storm win... Obviously I want us to win the next 5 but for the laughs wouldn't mind the storm beating the Broncos in real controversy.

Gal would have felt like he has just climbed Everest to win that Premiership. Some of the older guys also. I doubt whether we can produce that kind of intensity again to win next year. But hey, you never know. Blood a few more of our younger guys into the NRL and it might freshen us up a bit!

Who's going to start the "Can we go 12 seasons in a row to beat Saints' record?' thread?

I've got my doubts on Canberra, they were wining all those games on the back of ad lib football and the passes were sticking. IMO you can't successfully challenge year after year with that style, not to mention their defence wasn't great and as far as halves go I don't know if Siezer and Austin are good enough at controlling the game.

The form BJ and Rapana showed for the second half of the year reminding of that hot streak Terry Campese went on. Never to be seen again.

They'll make the finals though, that's for sure.

Plus I hate Ricky haha
