TBH I would have started Barnett over Haas, see if that gives the big bastard the shits and fires him up to actually play a good origin for once.
Barnett also strikes me as the right type of lunatic to be taking the first runs of the game.
That's a good idea. Barnett should have made the team in some capacity.

Still stewing about this. Cam is perfect for Origin, NSW need someone like McInnes and was one of their best in game one. He absolutely should not have lost his spot.
I understand it, he wouldn't have been there in game 1 if Murray was fit.

Jurbo is a powder puff but Madge backed himself into a corner by making him captain.

Name your team
THEN your captain
He may well have. Jurbo not in my best 17 but he wasn't some outrageous pick - I'd have taken him as a 19th man.
No Cleary, Teddy, Murray and Yeo (fairly) on the bench didn't leave him a lot to work with. Cam and Crichton both club captains but relatively inexperienced at origin level (Crichton more at rep level, but much less captaining experience). Either would have be criticised.

Even if you did something like swap Barnett in for Jurbo not sure who else really makes a good captain choice...? Maybe due to lack of other options you go Cam/Yeo co-captains? And start Yeo?

By not picking Teddy, and with who was out, he didn't have great options.

Exactly, which is why usung words like dropped in the media make it sound like people fail.

Neither Cam or Nicho were first in line for origin call ups this year but steven bradbury’d in. Then the preferred players return and they say people are dropped. Did they “drop” Tedesco?

Maybe, I don't know enough to say for sure, def been some good things said about him, like Ciraldo has sent messages down only for Crichton to have already implemented the change before the message makes the field.

Still, a 23 year old with 7 origin games and who has captained I think at that stage 11 NRL games would have been a pretty bold choice.

Especially if Jurbo is making his side regardless.
Making Crichton captain there so he can drop Jurbo easily for game 2 if they lose wouldn't be brilliant coaching. Obviously you more so mean not picking Jurbo but clearly he wanted to.

Mciness was robbed. No way should he have been dropped.
Will put him in an awkward spot if Murray or Watson don't play 13 well, although Murray rarely plays a bad game and Watson has been in great form this season. I think everyone can see McInnes clearly replaced as the stand-in and not actually 'dropped'

Ofcourse they dropped him, from the moment he was picked for Game 1 I always had a feeling they wouldn't stick with him for long. Reward him for form then throw him on the scrap heap.

He isn't hype enough but Blues know what they are doing though cause they are such a successful team....

They stick with pussy cats like Payne Hass - don't worry though lads was a fluff piece on him yesterday about how he will finally step up in Origin, hahahahaha

Payne Avacado is like the only actual prop in the team besides 20 minute Leniu. I don't think him and McInnes are in competition.
It's disappointing for him he's not there but Murray and Yeo are easy rep picks ahead of McInnes, even if some (including me) don't really like how Yeo plays in Origin.

I honestly don’t see how people are surprised that McInnes has been dropped. He’s a great hard worker but guys like Yeo & Murray are far superior locks to him.

Yeo’s game gets criticised at Origin level for his insistence on trying to play like he does at Penrith. However you simplify that role he’s phenomenal even in game one he was one of our best with his clean up work & his hit ups. Just unfortunate he threw that pass.

My ideal origin side has McInnes on the bench utilising him for a short stint at hooker to rest Robson & some minutes in the middle with either Yeo moving to prop or Murray moving to edge. But I’m in no way surprised by this selection. We have plenty of workers which is McInnes role.

I’d probably have Jurbo out, McInnes in & Yeo to play just as a straight out forward if I picked the team but they are hardly going to give him the captaincy then drop him for the next game. Stupid captaincy decision imo.

Yep

With everyone fit I probably don't even pick Cam McInnes tbh (But I also wouldn't pick Jurbo)
With Cleary out I might leave Yeo out (or restrict him to prop) and use Cam as a 13, as ballplaying Yeo annoys me in origin.
I don't trust McInnes as a hooker enough to use him as the utility. With Murray out I bring McInnes in... and that's what happened in this case.

Does he deserve to be dropped? No
But he was always the injury replacement for a guy available now.
