So when a journo in the press conference mentioned the team lacking energy early game Cam shakes his head and Fitz interjects saying attitude was the problem not energy and Cam's head immediately starts to nod frustratingly in agreeance.

These 2 know it's an issue and it isn't new - time to put some rockets up some blokes or find some other way to sort it out , I don't care how. We can't afford to waste these good years with alot of our squad in or around their peak years simply on the back of a bad or lazy attitude.

Team has been in a good spot in 2024 and Panthers are the only team that really have it over them right now in terms of quality (we can beat anyone else) - would be a shame to waste it all with another finals flop

I couldn't withstand the pain of watching the Dolphins again but is this lack of effort / attitude in the first 20 by a few individuals or the whole team?

From memory they all look flat, compounded by basic schoolboy errors such as by Ronnie.

With our team it's like it's all or nothing.

It's kinda like the first 20 the forwards are looking to save energy as the backs will front load their efforts. Then the backs panic a bit if they are not making easy metres and lose concentration by being sloppy.

It takes our reserves to come on to refocus our team / forwards to get back into the groove.

Yeah I noticed this too. I thought it was them trying not to use the short turn around as an excuse more than thinking there's an attitude problem.

Yes they all look flat across the team and lacking focus. Heck I can deal with being a bit flat or down on intensity but we still need to make our tackles, the defense has been poor - some of that is technique / structure but it seems alot of it is attitude.

The boys don't want a tough game sometimes and are relying too much on the bench saving their bacon

I think you might be right but surely these 2 blokes relise this isn't a one off and attitude is an issue needing addressing.

We are not so bad as to have 22 points put on us in 20 mins. We are a much more capable team than that.

They put 30 on us last year in not much over 30 minutes as well.

Sometimes we just suck. Hard, really hard.

Haven't forgot, I am still getting over it

We are deadset disgusting at times

Gotta love the head shakes from players after some weak ass tackle attempt, as if they are shocked at what is going on and can't comprehend it

Cam was made for Origin... just not the Blues, wrong state he was born in.

The further our boys are away from that Blues organisation the better. Clowns, they seriously got NFI what they are doing and half looking forward to seeing them get pumped
I had higher hopes that Maggie would know a bit more about Origin than Dickler, but alas…… Dropping Nicho I can accept (harsh but didn’t do enough) but Cam? FMD.

Yea I like Madge but it's the same old **** really - couple fresh faces in the squad doesn't really change that

The Blues administration needs a clean out IMO - strip it down and build it back up. They been ballsing things up for too long. The QLD team isn't even that special these days (good but not great) and they still can't get it done.

I don't really see Madge as a problem, he's a good honest guy and a competent coach and deserves a proper chance at this but all the people that surround the NSW coach... hmm maybe they shouldn't be there anymore. I don't think their support or advice is that great and the culture and processes need a reset.

Not a great start from Madge regardless, not sure if the squad is 100% his choosing (think it was) but he got it wrong game 1 and didn't manage the Sua'ali'i send off well. If he wins game 2 he will be hailed the savior but still gotta go up to QLD and get it done.

Was there selector turnover?

Given the injuries Madge probably ended up with the exact same team Fittler would have except not dropping Teddy game 1 and keeping him captain.
Maybe get an eel on the bench over Young.

Young was crap last year in SOO

Ramien over Rugby boi

API to interchange with Robson or to have completely replaced him

No Jurbo
Pick a proper forward pack / bench

Find a spot for the likes of Talakai

I still think they could have done better with the Game 1 selections but they did make some good calls like Lomax & Leniu

Fapping over selection for 6 months to get it wrong anyway is only part of the problem with the Blues, I just don't think they have the right systems or culture to beat QLD beyond the odd series. They do manage some close games with QLD but don't have that something extra to get over the line or ice the deal, they love leaving the door open.

It's a mix of being down on belief and not having the cohesion or trust that QLD does but whatever it is they do in camp, it doesn't seem to be working. Both teams are filled with talent and skillfull experienced players.

@Gards
you think it might not be all his team?

I would imagine it’s all Maggie’s team and his choice to change things up, but if that’s not the case, then I agree with you.

There needs to be some change above coach level I would imagine
