I do get your point
But do you think Tracey has what it takes to become a great NRL Half / 5/8 ?

No mate, unfortunately. Though at this stage the same amount of Fitzy miracle cream is needed for Tracey and Trindall (medium sized bath tub at least half filled), so who knows who will respond best?

But also think Trindall needs stability to have a chance, and there's nothing left to lose by leaving Tracey in now. At least he seems durable

I just know if we took the two, then still lost, he’d be getting roasted for not going for the try against 12.
Hard to think we didn’t win it, with so much momentum going into half time.

Let’s compare Trindall with Jahrome Hughes from Melbourne.

His first year with the Storm was 2017 after playing with the Titans and Cows previously.

He comes to Melbourne at around 21 years of age and after playing fullback he is then groomed to play 7 after Cronk leaves.

It is not until 2019 at the age of 24/25 that he cemented the spot so we now have him at almost 27 years of age developed as the Storm halfback.

I may be wrong but I think this is how many of our supporters expect Trindall to play right now with a powder puff pack in front of him.

Trindall is 22 so even if progresses as well as Jahrome Hughes, given we have a new coach and a stronger pack of forwards it still may be another two years before he reaches the heights we all crave.

Halfback is one of the most important positions in the team and they are not created overnight. Cronk took time as well.

Sam Walker is doing well for someone so young but even he needs another year or two to develop.

Have to say it was a poor decision. We were playing like crap didn't look like getting across The kick had what, 75% chance of going over, then we get the ball back a minute later? You've got to do it

I actually thought the same in my head yesterday, you’re a mind reader! Trindall needs good coaching and better players around him at this stage of his career, there is enough talent in him to persevere with.

No he wouldnt. Its inexcusable to be down by 2 with 6 to go and not take a shot

This forum used to whinge endlessly in the Gallen take the two days.

And that was in the days of lower scoring games.

If the two went wrong we’d be spewing.

Let's be real about it though... Trindall got his contact once Chad left, SJ was all but gone and we missed out on ARey. With few options on the market that left us with one 7, and we're still hearing Hynes might play there instead.
Again, really not saying he's no hope of improving, there's good aspects to his game, but he's only being given a chance (here or anywhere) because there's no one left. Hardly inspired confidence that he'll fix his game to the level we need, but I'll live in hope (and be realistic that he's as good as we'll get)

What's so bad about that though? Plenty of players get their opportunity through players leaving or getting injured.

Absolutely. An undeniably unacceptable mistake for a first grade coach, and captain to make. Heads need to roll for that one.

Totally agree. I took my son to the park on Sat and was kicking goals from the sideline. How the **** didnt Hannay back Trindall is beyond me. Even if he missed we would of got the ball back from a drop out.

Yep. If you take it and we lose, or he misses, so be it. Not taking it was incredibly dumb and I hope he gets roasted for it.

Especially with such a weak/inexperienced team on the field, probably be a bit more of a conversation if we’d had 2016 team or even good for SJ out there to give us a decent chance of getting the try

Not saying it's bad for him. Just not great for us right now. It'd just be nice to have a Walker sitting in Reggies that you're busting to give a 10 year deal to because he's obviously that good

In that situation, you had to take it

There is no excuse

100% you take the points in that situation! My sons Rugby side has been in the same position on 3 occasions this season didn't take the points and lost all those games, they will now miss the finals by 1 point.

All spot on. Note that Hughes wasn't "groomed" to play 7 though. Croft was the bloke they were grooming - but was a dud.

Hughes was a good utility player who could switch between 1 and 6 comfortably and was too good for Cup, so they gave him a crack at 7 and it worked.

Thanks Burgo.

Yeah maybe wrong choice of words with groomed perhaps. But it still took Hughes a while to get it and he needed a good system to do it in.

Trindall is trying it at 22 with no leadership and no coaching.
