He desperately needed Kennedy on his hip when he made that half break at the death . It’s an area Kennedy can improve ..

Imagine bellemy or Robinson blowup.
If their team was 2 behind in the showdown Of full time, someone pokes their nose through only for there to be no support player running at their hip… I’m really hoping these are the one percenters that Fitz will be all over next year…

He needs to work on the 30 percenters first!

Not watching another sharks game when this crap player is the number 7

Yes you will

And writing off a halfback, the most highly scrutinised position where players take years to develop and only the very few are good from the start is way too premature.

If this time next year he's not improved then maybe, but even then he won't even have 50 games experience.

I'm forgiving of the mistakes, just wish he was getting more involved when we need someone to step up. Our biggest criticism of SJ is the same as I have for Trindall...

Kid, get a lot more touches, rally Tracey and Kennedy around you and take them on

I dont know Sparks - I thought he is really trying to get involved. He always seemed to have his hands on the ball and looking to run himself, kick etc.

I think his problem is that the decisions / efforts aren't necessarily the right call at the time or ineffective - something that hopefully time, maturity and coaching will rectify.

I agree with you though re forgiving his mistakes. We need to give him some breathing space.

I see it this way.

Our forwards have been making bugger all metres (no go forward) plus our defence in the middle has been appalling, now add to lack of leadership, he has had limited game time (less than 12 games) plus not much mentoring going on by any senior player. .

Trindall looks to be doing the best he can with what he has.
I do think once we get finaune, McInnes and Hynes to say the least, we will see a different structure plus enable him to do his thing

His run stats were good last game, but I'm not sure if they tell the story. Feel like the eye test didn't do him as many favours.

It's tough with Trindall right now... We need a Chad, and an SJ. Tracey's neither really, but I'm not seeing Trindall is either... either. And maybe it's more my perception of his strengths. I see him as a ball runner, and that's what I expect to see him do when we're on the ropes. Guess I'm just not seeing so much of that, especially the last two games. He's likely trying to be something he's not, and it's not really working

Still yet to see "it" from him. Nothing gives me the feeling he's anything special let alone a fair dinkum FG'er. That's ok but he's got time on his side to improve - I didn't have a high opinion of WK last yr either but he's improved outta sight.

Big call!

Not the place where it could be reasonably discussed but wonder if we'd be sitting higher had he stayed. I wasn't fussed about mid season transfer although there is not really any apparent value to us in the end. Or to Warriors really given he got injured like first touch of the ball and was already in pretty poor form.

Reading this thread reminds me of the negativity most had for Willy K about 18 months ago.

Some saw the undoubted potential, and were not expecting Tommy Turbo Mk II after a handful of games.

Get off the kids back and get him some help, and I've no doubt he will repay it with interest.

You’re probably right.

I’m also not sure what people are expecting of Trindall. He’s not a star. In junior and lower grades he has just been a solid organising 7 who makes his tackles, has a good kicking game, and takes the line on occasionally. He was good (but not great) in Flegg and NSW Cup, but had the good fortune to play in some stacked teams where he just needed to do his job. Sound familiar?

If Trindall pans out in the NRL it’ll be in a Chad type role organising the team and playing a supporting role to his 6. He’s not going to be a primary playmaker.

He’s doing just fine right now. Young halves make mistakes sometimes.

When Chad was our dominant half we lost a lot of games and arguably this side now is worse then those sides that Chad had to run.

Throw Chad in with Tracey and it would be just as ugly if not uglier, with no Wade no SJ no Moylan your forwards getting rolled open and Talakai or Chambers as your centre’s and WITH Josh Hannay as your coach - Full credit to the kid hes basically been forced to be in charge of leading a first grade team without any leaders.

This is a good learning period for him in the long run

Though Chad and SJ were going great guns for a while there. Anyway, this wasn't meant to be about Chad. A 'Chad' was more referring to an organising half alongside an attacking half. I'd say we need both, and Trindall isn't getting the benefit of a great pairing to properly be either of them.

Burgo, interesting that your day he's only ever been a solid organising half. Not having seen him outside of first grade, I'd somehow gotten the impression he was an up and coming gun. Would love him to be, but it's all on faith right now
