Forgetting the bounce of the ball, the other problem is that the kick only landed on the 30m line. If he catches it pn the full he starts 40 out on the first tackle.

Other NRL kickers would have that landing on the 20m line (min).

I feel like just ignoring it found grass against a fullback who is good at stopping that is a bit disingenuous. Presumably we could find plenty of other ones where your observation is fair but this looks like a pretty good kick to me.
Also worth asking, how much of that extra 10m does Edwards close before our defence reach him if he takes it on the full at the 20?

On Trindall I'd say nobody on the team thought he was going to be kicking here, he was shallow (which sometimes you can be on a shortside kick) but with BHU in the way not looking to be a blocker. He could have easily pointed BHU a step or two forward and dropped back a step or two which gives the illusion (and option) of kicking. Why he didn't - Fitz says Hynes is the kicker? It made sense for field position and target area of kick that they not consider going short? lazy by him not making himself an option so Blayke of course ignores the non-option? Who can say really

I think we can all agree Nicho doesn't have a huge boot, but in this instance what we are looking at is the end-of-set outcome for the team. Kicking from inside your own 40 and having the opposition fullback field the ball on his own 10 is a good outcome.

I don't care where the ball lands. What I want to see is consistency of outcome. If Edwards gobbles the next 6 kicks up on the 30m line it makes this one the outlier. (Not ideal to start the discussion by looking at just one kick. For this one I was just getting the logistics of animated GIFs sorted as a test).

So he kicks it the best part of 50m and finds the grass and its not good enough?

This post went off like a damp squid.

There's a new feature called "not clicking on that thread". Sing out out if you need help with it ;)

It’s nichos team, everyone’s knows it, including the players. A number of times the ball went to Hynes on the last for the kick despite the ptb being on trindalls side of the field.

If Hynes wants the ball, he gets the ball, and Trindall is just a passenger and will pick up the scraps.

IMO we need Hynes to take a backseat with the halfback duties because at the moment he is inserting himself every single play he can, and with his confidence down, errors are sneaking in.

Hynes looks good a couple passes off the ruck linking up with Kennedy and Nikora. Would love for him to keep being that guy.
And the opposition knows it too.

Come to think of it, we should be able to use it to set a trap and confuse the opposition.

Are you two spoofing?
Depends on the definition I guess. I looked it up on urban dictionary and there are 5 pages.

If you mean shooting smack, doing crystal meth, jizzing all over myself, giving blokes BJ’s and attempting to hack into people’s bank accounts - sure.

I vehemently deny any other definitions though, because don’t want snowy to bring my name into disrepute.

Glad you shared that mate as I had no idea what it meant. I feel better for it now.

Similarly, one foul swoop ticks me off. Makes sense weirdly because bird and swoop go together, but otherwise makes no sense at all.

Buggering up common expressions is something ex footy player commentators do a fair bit. “Plenty of other fish out there” I heard said once. And “Go with the punches”, “Straight out of the box”, “calm as a cucumber”, “aiming a long bow” etc

That said, I used to think the saying was “have your cake and eat it” until my lady pointed out it needs “too” at the end otherwise you’re just eating a piece of cake in a perfectly normal way.
It’s “one fell swoop” not “foul”
