With our bench I feel we have enough cover with the likes of Wade (halves) mcinness (hooker) and Wilton (Centre) to cover the field. Would like us to play 4 forwards instead of having a halfback in the 14 jersey.
Yeah. That’s a fair call. I thought your were saying that there was someone in the squad who is an actually utility. Berrell is the only player who could be described that way, and I don’t think he is leapfrogging Tricky.

Think that was preferred last year except when injuries struck. Trindall typically only preferred to Cauldron and Hazelton

Said it before but trindal just needs 80min week in week out at half for the jets to start the year.
We need to play the long term game with him.
His development has gone nowhere but backwards the past 2 years.
Also kind of on a side note believe he would benefit massively by spending some time with Nichos mind coach.

Would still like to see Brailey in the 14 and cooling his heels for the first 20 minutes ..

Yeah I’m with you on this. I know coming off the bench for limited minutes helped Cooper Cronk in his early days with Melbourne but it’s not the right approach for everyone and I’m just not seeing the benefits for Brayden as opposed to 80 minutes at halfback each week for the Jets.

I was 50/50 which I thought was better leading into last season. After seeing how he struggled to slot into the role though I feel strongly he will get more from 80 minute gigs at lower level than NRL bench duty.

Cronk, Hunt etc. were playing meaningful roles off the bench with a plan. Trindall hasn't been.

I'd be all for Trindall playing that NRL bench role if the plan was to give him 15-25 each week to ask questions around the ruck and peel back a few minutes from some of the props, but that's not how he was used.

I thought BT did OK when he came on yesterday. Seemed to have a bit of zip and broke a few tackles. Kicked well too.

Still see him as a back up and not a regular 6 or 7 but he is not as poor as some might think.

I'm honestly surprised someone like the dogs didn't try to pick him up as competition for Flanno. He'd be pretty easily the best back up half in the comp.

He was good when the Sharks had the ball. Was pretty ordinary in defence, but there was a lot of chop and change there at the end so that can be forgiven.

Cheers mate. Unfortunately I never notice the defence until I see a replay on who missed what tackle. Not being brought up on League and how defences work, it's a bit lost on me.

How many good halves in the history of the game are known for their defence? Especially in recent years?

Defence and tackling are not the same thing. In general Trindall is a good tackler and he misses very few when defending in the middle. His positioning and reads on the edge up not up to scratch for the NRL. At least they weren't on Sunday. Again though, I'll forgive him. It was a chop/change 20 minutes and he had a 21yo middle forward playing second row next to him.
