He's also just turned 29 so this might be his last big long-term contract opportunity.
I think this will be as important as anything. Given the concern some had around AFB's age, I wouldn't be looking to sign BHU long term with his injury history + being 30 at that point.

He may be keen for a 3 year deal somewhere.

He's up with the best when he's at his best but he only seems to be at his best when he's been injury-free long enough to build up to his best and that only seems to happen for short periods each season.

Google Translator: He might be about to hit a lucky streak but that's a gamble.

AFB + BHU + Hunt in the same side - I would love to see that go forward.

NRL transfer hub: Warriors offer Hamlin-Uele $2.2 million deal

ByMichael Chammas
Updated January 23, 2024 — 5.25pmfirst published January 16, 2024 — 5.04pm

Cronulla face a major fight to keep prop Braden Hamlin-Uele after the Warriors offered him a three-year deal worth almost $2.2 million to join the club from 2025.

The 29-year-old has offers from the Warriors and the Sharks, with the New Zealand club’s deal of more than $700,000 a season the most lucrative of the two. Hamlin-Uele’s contract expires at the end of this season.

The Warriors have targeted Hamlin-Uele as the future leader of their forward pack following incumbent prop Addin Fonua-Blake’s decision to join the Sharks, on compassionate grounds, from next year until the end of 2028.

The Sharks have also signed fellow prop forward Toby Rudolf until the end of 2026, but the club believes there is room for all three middle forwards.

Cronulla made their offer to Hamlin-Uele weeks ago, well before they beat St George Illawarra in the race to sign Fonua-Blake.

Anyone know what we offered? Might be happy to take a pay cut to stay at the club closer to a premiership...

Or might leverage the Sharks to get an extra year out of the Warriors.

Did you see the Warriors last season? We are no closer to a premiership then they are. In fact one could argue they might be slightly ahead of us in that regard.
