Instantly stiffens defence and adds a real fear factor for the opposition

Just what we've been missing.
Shouldn't have anything to answer for... The refs must have been told that players only get hurt because of foul play, they were looking for someone to blame every time
I’m sure they forget sometimes that a giant professional athlete slamming their whole body into another whole body can hurt someone without it being head contact

It looks like if someone gets hurt there must have been some illegal tackle. That Nikora one was a joke.

I don’t even understand what a “hip drop” is supposed to be. The only ones I’ve ever seen penalised are legs tackles where the guy lands on his side. It’s so dumb.

The proper version is one or two blokes holding a guy up, another grabs around waist and then throws weight down onto back of attackers legs to bring him down.
More similar to the cannonball tackle in that it is a direct attempt to use force/weight around knee area to bring a stationary player down.

A hip level tackle where your+attackers momentum swing some of your body into their legs is not a 'hip drop'

Someone gets hurt, someone must pay. For some reason nothing can be an accident anymore.

I guess in 2022 everyone is a victim and by golly someone better pay for it.

Except when Finucane and BHU went down in the first game… those were accidents and unfortunate events.

They might of edited that article since.

Says Nikora is facing 2 weeks for grade 2 dangerous contact, 1 week with early plea it looks
Ah yeah the article says Contact the charge listed though is Throw.

Would make more sense the charge is wrong as I have no idea when he lifted someone badly.

For a hip drop still harsh - if that complete accident is grade 2 what is grade 1?

I don't really have a problem with them saying it might have been an accident, but your technique is bad. There was a point where Nikora was basically off the ground.

Not a tackle you want to see in the game.
