Different players, failed with Tricky also, but i think Atkinson can do the job

Yep. Atkinson might make it work given he has a better passing game.
Tracey is all effort which is what he brings to a team, but Atkinson can play a bit of ball
If Atkinson is a guy they really like as a backline option for the future, blooding him from the bench in a few different roles (including hooker) is a good plan. This has less injury-cover value when Sifa is on the bench though.

If you want to pick the best option to play hooker for 20, Atkinson is well down the list.

Just want him as cover for Brailey, rather have him come on as a speed man in the middle in a lock role

Plenty of good fringe players were nothing special in the trials - it's an adhoc game with alot of disruption to structure and combinations. Berrell was pretty decent though I thought.

Brailey is playing well at the moment but can he maintain it and for how long? Has he turned the corner or is this just another flash in the pan or are we seeing genuine improvement and growth from him?

I'm ok with Fitz running a 4 middle forward bench

It's when he picks those "number 14" type utility players I question how much value it brings to our team and I'm tempted to carry a specialist hooker on the bench instead (on proviso the relief hooker is still a good player which Berrell is). Having said that Atkinson looks a good prospect and showed some promise in the bench utility/lock role the other week.

This bloke needs to keep ****ing running when he scoots. Loses all momentum how he just stops and stands there looking to pass.

Seriously.... When he's playing for Australia you'll be like 'yeah, but how much better would Berrell be for Australia?'

The way Brailey is playing, no need to carry an extra hooker on the bench, unless he was showing signs of fatigue.

Our bench today has been immense and must be close to the best bench in the comp

Not sure about NSW, I think Api and Egan are ahead of him.

But I’m happy with how he’s going and glad to keep him in our team. NSW can get stuffed

I think he gets the Blues 14.

To many things lining up, from Madge coming to watch Sharks the other week, to Madge inviting him to the “secret spine meeting”, to Gus saying he thinks he’s getting an origin spot (referenced Trindall but later corrected himself saying he meant Brailey”

Yeah I'm a big fan, but I'm not picking him for Origin. Wighton is the easiest 14 pick ever IMO.

Wighton is not too good at the moment. If Madge is fair dinkum about picking on form. Brailey has to be up there.
Agree to disagree. I think Wighton has been a shining light in a low effort souths side. One who can hold his head up every week. And we know what he can do in the rep arena.

I nearly have Wighton starting but he’s retired from Origin remember.

There was discussion on one of the footy shows recently and he still hasn’t come out and said “pick me if you want”

Pretty sure he withdrew that, could be wrong though

Thought he retired from rep, then unretired so the indigenous game could count towards his suspension.
