Happy to call it second year syndrome, agree another big off season, his cause isn't helped by us playing without any real on field leadership. When he goes for a quick scoot never seems to turn it into much second phase play be it his lack of vision or no supporting runners. I’m not chucking him on the junk pile but am looking forward to him getting a bit of a rest during a game next year if that’s fitz’s plan

It's his consistency that kills me, the other week he was dynamic and causing issues in the first half then went back into his shell the second half.

I know he's played 50 games but he's only played 50 games, maybe it takes another season to get there. Hopefully Fitz and working with McInnes will help him. Maybe playing 60 mins and McInness does the rest is all he needs ?

We definitely kept the wrong Brailey in hindsight. I know Blayke had massive wraps on him but yet to see all the good things he did in the lower grades

Just remember how long it took big brother to finally come on a bit.

I have my doubts about Blayke but he needs more time.

true - he often ends up with no options after making a run and has to take a tackle. players like Cook & API turn that into points, they have better support play around them sure but I think they also have more of a plan and are better communicators and organisers. brails seems like bit of a lone wolf

Still think we kept the right one. Blayke is better than Jayden was when he was at the Sharks. Jayden has gone up and improved since he went to the Knights, whether that's more experience, better coaching etc not sure.

And if you look at their stats Jayden has a few more try assists and tries but not like he's streets ahead. Defensive and running metres are very close too.

Hynes around the middle could be a good beneficiary of that.
McInnes is another as he is likely to be awake to good opportunities to run from hooker himself so be better prepared to back up Blayke than others.

This stuff you guys are talking about is the difference between a good team and a bad team, not the difference between good and bad hookers.

Watch the first 15 minutes of yesterday's Tigers/Rabbitohs game. Liddle goes from dummy half several times, takes the ball to the line, has no runners, and gets tackled. Cook does it once, finds Murray, he pokes his nose through, gets a quick play the ball, and the Bunnies score next tackle. Commentators rave about Cook.

Totally agree. He opens them up then has to stop because no-one's around. I can't blame him for that, he has to scoot out whenever the opportunity presents. It's really Will's job to follow the play when he's not getting set up in an attacking shape. You notice Teddy and Turbo doing that - standing around the ruck on the early tackles just in case something's on

Neither of them are ‘the wrong Brailey’ I’m sick of people thinking there has to be a ‘wrong Brailey’ and a ‘right Brailey’. Both of them will likely end up being good number 9’s, Jayden’s just a little bit ahead in his development at the moment. Have some patience with Blayke, the talent is there, having Cam on board will help him next season.

Blayke last year played 20 games for 4 tries, 5 forced drop outs, 2 40/20, 6 try assists, 43 ave run metres

Jaydens entire attacking stats for us over 69 games was 9 tries, 2 forced drop outs, 0 40/20, 6 try assists, best seasons ave run metres was 38. Their defence was about on par with each other

Jayden has kicked on nicely this year but he’s also a few years older and a lot more games into his career. Finishing up last year we definitely kept the right Brailey. I was actually expecting him to kick off even better this year to the point he was going to be throwing his name around the origin ring, but he’s definitely gone backwards and having 2nd year syndrome IMO.

His benefits are he’s still so young and has a new respected coach coming in. He definitely deserves a good preseason and first crack, but if he can’t be unlocked by Fitz I’ll be all for McInnes to move to hooker if it improves us.

IMO Cook has been well below his best for around 1.5 years now. He often goes to run only to find there's no space, before passing a hospital ball to some unsuspecting teammate because the play has broken down.

Don't forget he is playing 80 minutes each week in this quicker paced game, whilst still finding his feet in first grade.

Cook's been around for a while now mate, not sure how you've missed him
