Billy is lazy when it comes to offense. He had 3 runs over the weekend for 35 meters, playing 42 minutes. In a game where a lot of our team were tired from playing long minutes he never stepped up. To put it in perspective, Wade had 3 runs in 18 minutes of play.

Lol. Watch the game instead of just readings stats. Sharks had the ball for less than 50 tackles when Billy was on the field

Yep exactly. Pretty hard to go after Billy on this from that game. One thing that does annoy me about him though is he seems to have a knack for giving away silly penalties.

Yeah - that’s an issue. He was a little unlucky on a couple of those calls last game but it’s something to be wary of.

I did, we had 7 sets of 6 between Billy's last run and the end of the game. He took his last hitup with 26 minutes remaining in the game.

He needs to do more, right now he is a waste of space.

That's still not great. There were players that had been on the whole 80, he should have taken more of the load.

Personally, I am having trouble seeing what value he brings to the team.

At the moment he helps us get through our injury crisis. It's surely a fact that when all our players return he won't be in the 17.

That's a bit unfair Egg, I don't think he is a plodder.
He really hasn't been given much of a chance to show what he can do. All he has been asked is to run with the ball and tackle.

I'll be careful how I say this next bit as he is nowhere near the player I am going to mention.
But Billy is more in the Gavin Miller mould, I don't think you'd see him anywhere at his best unless he was the playmaker like Gav was.
But as I said, please don't think I am saying he is as good as Gavin Miller, absolutely no way. I'm just saying that is the style he is going for.

Clearly you are just looking at a stat sheet. 7 sets of 6 eh?

Here's some stats for you:

- Sharks fed a scrum with 20:11 left on the clock
- Magoulias is in the scrum, so it will have been impossible for him to get the ball on that play
- Rudolf drops it on the next play
- From this point on the Sharks had the ball for fifteen tackles in total
- One of those was diving on a short kick-off
- One was Dugan catching it 1m out from his line and getting tackled in goal
- Four of them were shifts to an edge
- One of them was off a scrum (again, Billy was in it)
- Five of them were on the last set of the game with less than a minute to play

This means that between the 60th minute and the 80th minute there were exactly 3 play the balls where Billy could possibly have taken a hit up but didn't. THREE PLAY THE BALLS

If you want to complain about his first 20 minutes, or the penalties, have at it - but if you are basing your argument on attacking stats during a period in which the Sharks didn't have the ball, it's pretty obvious that you are just hunting down stats to support your position rather than actually paying attention to what happened in the game

I'm having a hard time working out who is correct in these two posts. Boy it's hard! Wow.
Well done Burgo. :)

- Rudolf drops it on the next play Where was Magoulias the slack bastard
- From this point on the Sharks had the ball for fifteen tackles in total
- One of those was diving on a short kick-off sure, leave this to one of the other 12 guys I guess
- One was Dugan catching it 1m out from his line and getting tackled in goal Thanks for the help MAGOULIAS
- Four of them were shifts to an edge Where Magoulias should have got to so he can chip kick
- One of them was off a scrum (again, Billy was in it) Slacking in the scrum again!?
- Five of them were on the last set of the game with less than a minute to play Magoulias chip kick territory!

This means that between the 60th minute and the 80th minute there were exactly 3 play the balls where Billy could possibly have taken a hit up but didn't. THREE PLAY THE BALLS

Sharks Feed the scrum at 21:43 remaining:

Rudolph Hit Up
Wilton Hitup
Tolman Hitup
Dugan Hitup
Rudolph hitup and in the same play Will Smith knocks on

Sharks feed the scrum 20:11 remaining -
Wilton hitup off the scrum
Rudolph Hitup - Error

18:44 - Handover

Williams Hit Up
Wilton Hitup, offload Mulitalo takes a run
Woods Hitup
Tracey Hitup
BHU Hitup
Townsend kick

9 mins 13 - Short Kickoff recovered
Tracey Hitup - Billy Dummy Half
Tolman Hitup
Backline play - Billy used as a decoy.
Townsend kick for Dugan, recovered by Guthbo

5:14 scrum
scrum play out to Dugan
Tolman Hitup
backline movement
Moylan error

1:14 - Tracey recovers a kick
Wilton hitup
Rudolph hit up
Woods Hit Up
Moylan Hit Up
Townsend chip

Game over

Lets look at the hitups

Wilton 4
Rudolph 4
BHU 1
Tolman 3
Williams 1
Dugan 1
Tracey 2

In the final 21 minutes there were 16 chances for Billy to take even 1 hit up, just 1 hitup and I wouldn't be complaining.

While I do rate your counter point in this argument 8 of these were done by backs right?
Wilton, Williams, Dugan and Tracey were the backline (plus Ronnie), and Rudolf was playing edge, so potentially not all hitups a middle would have taken anyway.

Billy has also so far this season played 11 minutes, 17 minutes and then 42 minutes so this game would have been a big challenge for his match fitness like the others who played much bigger than normal minutes, such as Woods (0 runs) and BHU (1 run). We all know Tolman can work when needed so he was still good to run.

But it can also be explained why he only ran once in his first game (11 minutes), 4 times in 17 minutes does feel a bit better, then 3 times in 42 minutes doesn't seem like enough again. Could be just circumstances but does feel like in 70 minutes as a middle sub 8 runs is very low. Has made 50 tackles in that time though, plus 2 misses and 1 ineffective.

Billy needs to make a choice - pour cement all day or take a few extra hitups for his footy team

not enough energy for both
