Sharks Feed the scrum at 21:43 remaining:

Rudolph Hit Up
Wilton Hitup
Tolman Hitup
Dugan Hitup
Rudolph hitup and in the same play Will Smith knocks on - not a hit up. An edge shift

Sure - maybe he can have Tolman’s run here. I did say have at his first 20 minutes though. Last 20 was when the Sharks got starved of the ball.

Sharks feed the scrum 20:11 remaining -
Wilton hitup off the scrum - Billy in the scrum
Rudolph Hitup - Error - structure dictates back rower takes this run

18:44 - Handover

Williams Hit Up
Wilton Hitup, offload Mulitalo takes a run
Woods Hitup - Sure - maybe he can take this one
Tracey Hitup
BHU Hitup - this is a shift
Townsend kick

9 mins 13 - Short Kickoff recovered
Tracey Hitup - Billy Dummy Half
Tolman Hitup - Billy is setting up for shift
Backline play - Billy used as a decoy.
Townsend kick for Dugan, recovered by Guthbo

5:14 scrum
scrum play out to Dugan
Tolman Hitup - could have had this one
backline movement
Moylan error

1:14 - Tracey recovers a kick
Wilton hitup
Rudolph hit up
Woods Hit Up
Moylan Hit Up
Townsend chip

Sure - again - he can have a hit up in the last set but I don’t think it would make any difference. He’s either lazy or he isn’t. Taking a hit up with 40 seconds to go isn’t going to change anyone’s mind

Game over

Lets look at the hitups

Wilton 4
Rudolph 4
BHU 1
Tolman 3
Williams 1
Dugan 1
Tracey 2

In the final 21 minutes there were 16 chances for Billy to take even 1 hit up, just 1 hitup and I wouldn't be complaining.

What you are calling hit ups here sometimes are not.

Your numbers:
- 16 opportunities to run
- 5 hit ups before my count started (I started at 20:00)
- 4 hit ups after 1:00 (I ignored the last set)
= 7 opportunities between 20:00 and 1:00

My numbers:
- 3 chances to run between 20:00 and 1:00
- The other four IMO you are calling hit ups when they were not

I’m happy to agree that maybe he should have had a run in the 5 minutes before the 20min mark, or maybe he could have put his hand up on one of those few opportunities. I completely disagree with calling him lazy though. The players have defined roles. When the ball is not near them their job is to stay in position - not to follow it around like they are in under 8’s

Much better game from Billy. 9 runs in 35 minutes. He did well this week

doesn't matter if he makes 50 runs he is slow and doesn't make the same impact our other ball carriers do into the defense and his discipline and fitness are still questionable. prob our only meh player on the park tonight, didn't impress me he was O K at best

Jack Williams is so far ahead of him now it isn't funny., it's billy that scares me as a liability

Did okay but First to lose his spot when we start getting some players back from injury.
Maybe even when Brit comes back after his suspension.

just doesn't quite look on the pace with first grade NRL - maybe in time he will be but I don't want to play him every week to find out when there are significantly better players coming back from injury and suspension . on ability and impact there is no way he can force himself back into the 17

Given how far down the depth chart he is I’m not too critical but looking forward to getting Talakai and Hunt back

McGuire just had a shocker against us and it doesn't surprise me - I am still not keen on him

Get Ben Condon from the Cowboys to replace Billy (yes I relise he just had a ho hum game against us Sharks but it was his second NRL game in a horrendous team)

Bigger (117kg) , younger (20) and more upside. Big wraps on him from his U20 & QLD cup ventures, QLD Origin U20 rep ect. Burgess would know more about him

Can cover middle and second row and currently has no contract with the Cows for next season though I am sure if their heads are on they will be offering him one

I just don't see Billy getting all that much better, looks too slow and I question how much he can actually offer our squad beyond some tackles and the odd pass - don't see much of a future here for him

I don't really. He didn't play Q Cup in 2019 so was one of those kids that lost a whole year. He has effectively jumped from Blackhawks U20's Colts to NRL. I do know that the Cowboys won't be giving him up any time soon. (Jack Martin was in all of those same squads btw). Note also that Condon is a back rower rather than a middle.

As for Billy, that dropped ball on the ground was very disappointing. The rest if his game was fine. He has good leg drive, gets quick ptb's and his defence has improved a lot since this time last year. The jury is out on his future, but I think this 7-8 week period with a few forwards missing is a great opportunity to see what we've got in this player. Commit to him for 2 months and let him know it's his chance to show what he can do. If he doesn't, you've lost nothing. He's playing 15 minutes a game and there aren't any other guys knocking down the door.
