He was damaged goods that we got on the cheap, but Carney brought back the attacking flair we'd been missing since Noddy's departure.

Shame he was keen on Robson, and was such a basket case off the field, though.

I'd have to say Ennis is number 1 for me. There was nothing I didn't love about his game, and no doubt he was the GF winning difference.
Gallen then has to be 2. The amount he had done for the club (some of it legit even) over so many years is extraordinary.
Next, Lewis. The consummate clubman and culture changer. How Bird could leave with this bloke stepping up to be his mentor has me buggered.
Gavin Miller at 4. As a kid I just loved watching this amazing athlete. Tough to look at, and tougher on the field. Then also threw in a ridiculous amount of silky ballplay. What a legend.
Barba. Showed Flanno the attacking future of the Sharks. Even if he was an idiot off the field.
SJ...? Fingers crossed!

i had a bit more of a thought process on this, and i think there are 2 ways to judge signings for us

1) the flanno era

2) everything else

reason being, flanno won us the comp, so his signings must be looked at differently and a bit unfair to compare to others

so flanno era

1 - Luke Lewis - i still dont think people understand what he did for us both on and off the field, especially a player of his calibre coming in the middle of an asada investigation
2 - Michael Ennis - he ought toughness, leadership and the desire to win
3 - Ben Barba - he was something else, one of the most exciting players we have had in 20 years
4 - James Maloney - i know he is the brunt of jokes and trade comparisons, but his signing was instrumental and he was key part of our premiership, i still sigh sometimes at how he carried on for us
5 - Shaun Johnson - he hasn't played a game for us yet but he will be another luke lewis, plus he has commercial viability
6 - Wade Graham - the most sort after junior, rejected the chance to play along side JT at theCowboys to sign with us, and has turned into a dime a dozen back rower and our vice captain (that is sarcasm as well in case you **** stains dont understand)
7 - Andrew Fifita - again, another junior we took a punt on, but he lived up to the hype
8 - Jeremy Smith - he put the cutting edge and mental toughness into our pack that was lacking, i am disappointed we didnt get more years out of him
9 - Jack Bird - the most sort after junior in the game, signed with us after we won a wooden spoon and turned into one of the best centres in the game and an origin utility. its a shame his ego got the best of him
10 - Josh Dugan - controversial, yes, but he came to us as an origin and international player, and was the first international back we signed in a long time (gerard beale doesnt count) his name alone makes him a top 10, and he has become a fantastic ambassador off the field for us. plus, he called buzz a **** wit on a podcast

i left val holmes out as we signed him as a kid and he left us for the nfl, so **** that guy

I agree about Jeremy Smith. I don’t think his signing gets the credit to deserves these days, he’s addition was massive at the time and helped turn our pack around, especially defensively. He just made us....tougher. Yeah I’m disappointed we didn’t get another season at least out of him but I think he joined Newcastle to be close to his sick sister? Or something like that?

Did Sticky sign Flanno and therefore mastermind our dominant era?

I bet Rick agrees

Snowy... Jeremy Smith played under Flano but was signed by Sticky. Not sure which side of the fence that falls on for you but for mentgat wouid fall in the “everyone else” era.

I agree with most of that, but I'd probably put Cliff Watson in the pre Flanno list. He was more important than a couple of the other forwards listed.
