If we were going to use them both, which position would you have them in? i.e - SFP at 7 and Smith at 6 or vice versa?

Dear Bundy

Unfortunately I can't go to the games as I live in Qld. Shame about your origin team but that's for another post no doubt.

I'm glad to hear that Tim Smith is trying to direct the boys around becuase they look very disorganised most of the time especially on the last few plays - if in fact they get there without dropping the ball or bloody kicking it to the opposition.

I saw the Broncos game live and I wasn't too thrilled with Tim Smith that day, not for his lack of attack but his inability to defend. He seemed to move about a lot trying to get away from traffic which is turn left big holes in and around the ruck.

He looked very impressive in the Qld Cup but that's because he was playing against weaker opponents. I hope he really come into his own because every team need a good halfback.

I'm a huge scotty fan thought the wrong half got dropped at the time he looked better than barret at the time. don't forget the last game he played against the warriors most the tries we scored he had some kind of hand in. while tim smith may have a world of potential he has let in more tries in his time than he has set up .his miss on jennings was one of the worst I have seen in first grade

porter and lewis in the halves (barret at lock)
i have missed the last couple of nsw cup matches but the games i have watched the have been terrific. in saying that i understand the quality of the opisition has not been any where near first grade quality

There are alot of halfbacks that cant defend. You cant put all the blame of our defense on one player.

I agree. All the defensively weak halves out there have their protectors, who do you think should be Smith's?

So for those not picking Smith cause of his defence. Would you have Soward in your side?

i would give ANYTHING! for Soward in our team. The best 5/8th running around for the last 2 years. But he would probably do **** under us. No **** would roll up there sleeves and protect him.

And Flanagan is the only decent person you put there Peachey. ill take him. But for the number 9 we missed out big on not gunning for Priddis

I went for Tim Smith because he could be our (i really hate this term) x-factor.

SFP is solid, we don't need solid! We are solid enough (at least we were until recently)!

I am more worried that the instincts as halfbacks they both have are being coached out of them.

They both have stopped running the ball within a month of them starting that only says one thing to me and it really worries me I really hope I am wrong!

Anyone else notice this.

Heck yes.
My mate plays in the NSW cup side (wont name him for obvious reasons) and he says Ricky and Grima (ass coach) are both very much defensive coaches. Ricky especially has a very particular style of play that does not allow for any flambuoyancy or creativity.
This is killing us and now that our defence is no longer up to scratch like in '08, questions need to be asked because we cant score tries (like always) and now we cant stop them.
Rick needs to swallow his pride and allow his players to play football and maybe bring in a some help to deal with attack while he and Joey take care of defense. If we clean up our defense, attack might come because at this stage this team is not up to chasing points, we are capable of holding leads but once we're behind (even by a try or 2) we are in all sorts.

We need to find another way to move forward because at this stage, what we doin aint working and i believe it starts with the coach.

Welcome to Emu Plains, please be sure to visit our
Grima doesnt strike me as a defensive coach, ive seen more attacking game plans work for NYC then defensive tactics..

Scott Porter. And contrary to popular thought, he is actually creative.

I’m not really sure what Smith has offered us that Porter couldn’t.

The results haven’t got any better, and we are actually playing worse if anything.

But of course, halfback is not our problem position anyway.

******
There's no way RIcky will bring back Porter this week. He will just push Morris to five-eight.

Then he needs to be given more of a chance with our FG attack if he hasn't already
